Mothers - A special tribute

Today is mother's day again and I am sure almost everyone has some good things to say about our moms. As I reflect on this day, two women come to my mind.

After Sunday morning service

My mom. This year she is 75 years old. I thank God for her, the many sacrifices she has made for me, the family and for the kingdom. She is an epitome of love, patience and a true disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ. There are so many people whose lives have been transformed as a result of her unwavering quest for the kingdom. Only heaven will tell. Just last week she made a contribution for a church building in India. Even at this age, with a minim source of income, she gives generously for the kingdom. Truly a mother in all essence of the word. She indeed is the wind beneath my wings.

My wife. My children are blessed with a mother who has no comparison. She is not one among equals...there are no equals. Proverbs 31:28 - "Her children shall rise up and call her blessed". That's what she is. She reminds me of Hanna in the Book of Judges:

1.   She pours her soul to the Lord (1 Sam 1:10). No gossip, no backbiting, no ill intent
2.   Dares to take challenges. 1 Sam 1:11
3.   Remains undeterred in the midst of discouragement. 1 Sam 1:13-15
4.   Acts in faith to worship God. 1 Sam 1:19
5.   Willing to make sacrifice. 1 Sam 1:24
6.   Keeps her word. 1 Sam 1:28
7.   Dares to trusts in difficult circumstances.  She knew the sons of Samuel were wicked yet she allows Samuel to be kept in the temple.
8.   Remains true to her responsibility.   Even though she was away from her son, she knew exactly his size. 1 Sam 2:19

Jeya fits into it all. Thank you Jesus for the perfect match.

And today for the first time in her life, she spoke in the Sunday morning service comparing the lives of Lot's wife and Ruth. Although both came from the same stock, one's generation resulted in the birth of Moab, a cursed tribe, even God cured it, while the other, coming from the tribe of Moab, gave birth to a generation through which the Messiah was born. It brought salvation to the whole world. No matter what your past is, God can reverse it. The curse can be come a blessing. The question is are you willing? Ruth + God = history was rewritten, God+me = History is waiting to be written. And history was written today.
