Mission Trip to North East India - 13-20 Apr 15

We had another enriching trip to NE India. Blessed to see all the wonderful things the Lord is doing with His people. In spite of the swine flu and the bird flu, the Lord protected us and kept us safe through all the dangerous terrain. We had some challenges before our return to Singapore but God was in control of the situation and He saw us through.

The objectives of the trip were as follows:
1.   Church dedication
2.   Visit Church planters
3.   Seminar with PEC church planters and students in PEC School of Ministry in Jaigon
Bro James Ng, Bro Albert and his wife Sis Josephine, my wife and I went on this trip. Rev Samuel Sharma and PSt Daniel from Assam greeted us at Bagdogra Airport. We praise God for such committed and dedicated people with a heart sold out for teh Great Commission.

We visited our church planters in Sonoda, West Bengal, Bijan Bari in Darjeeling and in Lava. This church is in Lebong and pastored by Abishek and his wife Christina. Both are running a small kindergarten in the village. Work is progressing well.

The journey up and down the mountains was through narrow and dreadful tracks with steep descends and cliffs with no barricades. It’s certainly not a feat for the weak hearted. In some places only one vehicle can pass at a time. At one point, the tyre of the vehicle was at the edge of the cliff and our hearts almost froze. But the fears and jitters were compensated manifold by the breath-taking views of God’s creation. Majestic mountains with picturesque sceneries, back-dropped our meanderings.  Acres and acres of tea plantations also decorated the mountain slopes.

We re-visited our church planter Rubern in Rangpo. We had to walk down steep slopes of slippery sand tracks. Halfway down our knees were wobbling. But the church was a refresher. It was filled with youths. They were vibrant and full of energy. Sis Jeya shared a powerful message and the Spirit of the Lord moved in a powerful way that evening. We were indeed blessed to see the work in that place.

We also conducted a two day seminar for all our church planters and the students in PEC School of Ministry in Jaigaon. The following subjects were taught:

  •     Spiritual Gifts
  •     Spiritual Fruit – Bro Albert
  •      Spiritual Stewardship – Sis Josephine
  •      Prayer – Sis Jeya
  •      Closing – Bro Rama
During the final service, the Spirit of the Lord moved in a special way, touching the lives of all the church planters. Everyone was worshipping and crying out to God. We prayed for everyone of them. They were hungry for more of God, something so lacking in our polished services.

As we journeyed on this trip, one thing became blatantly obvious. The harvest is indeed plentiful and millions do not know Jesus.  And we do not have much time. But we have labourers who are willing to go. Please pray that churches and Christians will open their eyes to see the need for fulfilling the Great Commission before our Lord comes back again.  We need people with a burden and passion to reach the unreached. May God raise people who are willing to leave their comfort zones, be outward looking and invest their resources in fulfilling the Great Commission.

We want to thank God for His faithfulness and for giving us this privilege to serve Him.We also praise God for PEC, for her vision and passion for missions.  Many of our members give sacrificially. May God honour all those who have laboured, prayed and contributed for the labour in the mission field. All glory to God.
