Prayer - What is it?

Image
Luke 11:1 - One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray”. 2 - And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Many scholars have given us  a wide array of definitions for prayer and its various connotations. Prayer is talking to God. Prayer is making known our requests to God. Its communion with God. And what about its variations? Supplications, requests, intercessions, praise, thanksgiving and the list goes on. Many Christians today know all about prayer but they never prayer. Many pray just to satisfy the conscience. Still other pray three times a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner and occasionally before retiring to bed just to say "Good night Lord". We all know prayer is important. Its akin to the air we breath. No air we die, no prayer we die too. Yet how many really pray? Jesus, the son of God was always in prayer. Early in the m...

Uncompromising in a compromising world

Image
We live in very difficult times. As Apostle Paul predicted in 2 Tim 3 , we are seeing a breakdown of values, increase in violence, "a form of godliness but rejecting its power", like never before. All these are prelude to Christ's second coming.  It was shocking news when just a few days ago, when Huston Mayor asked five pastors to turn over sermon notes, speeches that touched on homosexuality.   The message was clear.  If you oppose the lesbian/bisexual/gay/transgender community or agenda in any way, you will pay. Even top leaders in the US, with Christian upbringing, are now paying homage to this new reversal of values. One even said that the constitution requires the legislation of same-sex marriage.   How will the church react? Will Christians still remain faithful to the Word of God?  Times are coming when churches will compromise their own beliefs and tenants of faith,...

HI Penang National Seminar

Image
This was held in Penang, Malaysia from 21-25 Oct. I was invited to be the faculty for Biblical Mandate. I  landed Singapore from Hyderabad on 20 Oct at about 8.45 AM and then transferred to another Terminal to catch the flight to Penang, departing at 11.05 AM. I was not well in India and was slowly recovering. But God's Grace was sufficient. I was able to pull through the trip without any problems. I tahnk God for all who prayed for me. Bro Adrian received me at the airport and together with his wife, Gina, and their sons we had a great dinner in a friend's home that evening.  There were 15 participants, the youngest being 20 years old and the oldest being 86 years old. The participants came from Malaysia, Philippines and Laos. Quite a challenging class but they did very well.  A lot of questions and contributions, that I did not have time to finish my sessions. The Spirit of the Lord moved very powerfully. The participants were blessed, inspired and cha...
