Mission Trip to Orissa and NE India : 14-23 Feb 14 - Part 2 to NE India

On 18 Feb we departed Chennai again for Bagdogra. We arrived in the early afternoon and Pst Samuel Sharma greeted us at the airport. From there it as a grueling 6 hr drive to Sikkim for our first church dedication.

Although the view was scenic, the drive up the mountains was nerve wrecking. The roads were winding and narrow with steep gradients and diving cliffs. At about 6,000 ft above seas level, we had the first church dedication at a village called Pakhyung in Sikkim. It was cold and we reached the church in darkness at 7.45PM. The work was pioneered by our church planter Pst Rinchen Lepcha. It was simply awesome to see people worshipping God in their native language. Jeya shared the word. This building was sponsored by Bro James and Sis Marilyn.

The next church dedication was on 19 Feb in West Bengal, up in the mountains in a place called Todey. This was also another 6 hr drive from Sikkim. We could see the snow capped mountains in the distance. The scenery was picturesque. Mountain ranges all around with deep ravines and valleys. Simply overpowering. Many people had gathered for the dedication.

This church was also sponsored by Bro James Ng and his wife. We were blessed and humbled to see what God is doing in this place. Pst Kamal and his wife have done a great job in pioneering this work. Pst John Malcolm shared the word and we had a wonderful service. That afternoon we made our way back to Bhutan Border, Jaigoan. It was a steep descend down the mountain into the valleys. Another 5 hr drive!!!

On 20 and 21 Feb we had a consultation seminar for all our CPs from Assam, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bhutan and Nepal. Pst John, Jeya and I took turns to speak to the CPs and Bible School Students. God’s Word refreshed our people and they just wanted more. God used Pst John Malcolm to minister to our people. People were just weeping and crying out to God for a fresh touch.

We had the last church dedication in a Tea estate in Garapora, West Bengal, about an hour drive from Jaigon. This church was sponsored by the PEC Women’s Fellowship. The worship was vibrant and the people simple.

We saw the work progressing and many people touched for God's glory. We are thankful to God for our co-ordinators and all church planters. Special thanks to Bro James Ng and Sis Marilyn for their contributions to the church buildings. We also appreciate Pst John Malcolm and Akshay for being a blessing to our people. Again, a big thank you to PEC and the Deborahs for standing with us in prayer. Above all, praise and glory to God for His grace and mercy.
