Nehemiah 2: 4 - Vision Birthed in prayer produces God directed strategy

After 3 months of fasting and praying led the king to answer favourably to Nehemiah. Bear in mind that his life was at stake to tell the king about his problem. But the "King's heart is in the hands of God" Pro 21: 1. It reminds us that God is sovereign and he is able to change the heart of the heathen king for His purpose. What a mighty God we serve. There is an old song that we don't sing anymore. Its reminds us of God omnipotence:

Got any rivers, you think that uncrossable Got any mountain, you can't tunnel through. God specializes in things that's impossible He can do just what none other can do.

Verse 4 speaks admirably of the power of prayer. When we come to God in prayer, even the hardest heart will melt. But it did not come easy. Remember in chapter one how Nehemiah wept, fasted and prayed. Sunday worship is good, lifts the soul and often soothes the emotions but the battle is really fought and won when one kneels alone with God in intercessory prayer. We live in a high paced society where time is of essence. Many people look for quick fixes but find it difficult to wait on God for clear directions in their lives, family and ministry. Ravi Zacharias once said that many people insist on their own way and make it look that its God's way. Don't take short cuts by running from one pastor to another for directions in your life. Waiting upon God is the only way. You will not regret it.
