Image
In one of the villages in Karimanagar District, our Rural Area Evangelism Team screened the Jesus Film. Thereafter our District Coordinator, Pst John, visited the village to do follow-up. Last week Pst Nehemiah was there to conduct the first baptisms in the village. 6 women and 4 men followed the Lord in the step of water baptism. Praise the Lord. Our efforts are producing results. May the name of Jesus be lifted up in every village in AP

Dad goes home to be with the Lord

Image
Dad passed away peacefully on 17 Dec at 5.45 AM. The funeral service was held on 18 Dec 09. It was an emotional farewell but with great hope that we will see our Dad soon face to face at the feet of our Lord Jesus Christ. Thanks to all who comforted us and helped us though this time of parting. We celebrate his life. A man who was faithful to the Lord till the end. A good husband and a great father. I miss him. ALL GLORY TO GOD

For your prayers

My Dad who is nearing 80 years has been diagnosed with liver cancer. He is now bedridden and is getting weaker by each passing day. However his spirit is strong and we are thankful to the Lord for the many years he has walked faithfully in the Lord. Please pray that God's will be done his his life and that the peace of God will be with our family. Psalms 136: 1 - Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever.

3 New congregations awaiting buildings

By God's grace, three congregations started by the church planters have overgrown and are in need of a building of their own. So far we have identified three new sites. Each building cost about USD $6,000. One is in Warangal District, planted by Pst Jacob. A dear sister from Singapore has donated the money for this church building. Praise God for people who are willing to give generously. The second site is in Khammam, a pioneering work by Pst Timothy. The congregation which used to meet in the open has now 50 members and in need of a building. We need to pray for funds for this building. The third site is in Kurnool, pioneered by Pst Das. The PEC Ladies's fellowship are trying to raise funds for this project. We are praying that all these buildings will be ready for dedication by the 1st quater of 2010.

5th Batch Graduates from GCTC

Image
The 5th batch completed their training at the Great Commission Training Centre on 2nd Dec 09. They had completed 3 months of training at the Bible School in Kurnool. These men and women will go into the villages and pioneer church planting efforts. Please continue to pray for these graduates that they will serve the Lord with zeal and favor. W e thank God for the Principal, Pst Dhanaraj and his staff for their great effort in training these students for the mission field. Our vision is that many people will be trained in evangelism and through this training the Great Commission will be fulfilled in AP for God's Glory. Lets pray that God will bringing in the right students for the next session. We intend to start computer classes and also the TAFTEE Certificate program with effect from the next batch.

Maui : 17-27 Nov 09 - Reflection

Image
Praise God for the opportunity to facilitate the subject Biblical Mandate at the Mid Pacific Center. 21 participants from 15 different countries attended the session. The sessions went on well by the grace of God and the Spirit of God ministered to the participants in a very wonderful way. Everyone made a commitment to fulfill the Great Commission. Some came for personal prayer to resolve issues of the heart. Praise God . Prof Arthur and his wife were indeed gracious and the fellowship over lunch revealed their heart and passion for God. A mentor indeed. Meeting and watching the support staff in action was an encouragement. Old ties were renewed and new ones established. It was also a wonderful privilege to speak to the volunteers. Words are insufficient to describe their sacrifices for the Lord and they have indeed been the crucial link in the lives of the participants. Larry and Vel are simply awesome, saints with great passion and tender hearts. Carl has been a wonderful brother wit...

Church Planting in Bhutan

Image
Friends the time is right to move into this new horizon. God is leading us to see that this takes effect. Pst Samuel Sharma is our key coordinator in Bhutan. He is also an alumni of HI and we are praying to raise support for 5 Church planters beginning Jan next year. You can be part of this plan by committing to support at least one planter with a sum of $70 (Sing) per month for a period of one year. This amount is definitely insufficient but it will go a long way in providing some form of support. I will make sure you are regularly updated. We have built a training centre near the Bhutan border to train church planters who are willing to go into this difficult terrain. God willing another batch will be train in Jan/Feb 2010. Preparations are underway. I will be there for the graduation and to take some sessions on Biblical Mandate. Rise up to the challenge to fulfill the great commission. Luke10:2 - He said , "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the ...

Devotion - Why Pray - Part 2

Image
Last week we saw that we need to pray because Jesus himself prayed. If the master needed to be in communion with the Father, if He needed to hear the voice of God the first thing in the day, how much more we need to do the same. Jesus always led by example and we do well to follow His example and walk in His steps. You will notice that the disciples came to Jesus in Luke 11 and asked him to teach them how to pray. Don't the disciples know how to pray? Every Jew is taught the Prayer of Moses and memorises portions of the Torah by the time he reaches the age of Bar Mitzvah. Why then the request, "Teach us to pray" They must have noticed that the way Jesus prayed was different, He addressed God as Father when the Jews dared not even mention the name of God. How often have you read in the Old Testament where God was addressed as Father? But Jesus addressed God as "Abba"...Daddy. In fact Jesus prayed with such authority and hence the request, "Teach us to pray li...

Aid for victims of Pakistan Persecution

Image
By God's grace, we were able to send some money to help Christians who suffered persecution at the hands of the militants. With the help Bishop Younis Haroon, an alumni of HI and a Bishop with the United Methodist Chuch of Pakistan, we were able to render some assistance to fellow brothers and sisters. The following is the report from Bishop Younis. There are 176 families in this village, out of these 31 families are Christian. Who become the victims of persecution of non believers. Most of the Christian people do work with the farmers in their fields.Due to the attack by the by the unbelievers persons. They are in fear. They do not go for their jobs till. We reached in this village on 17 October on Saturday. We gather them in a school. Update on Flood Relief - AP

Image
On 17 Oct. Pst Nehemiah and Pst Dhanaraj, distributed 50 packets (each contained 5 Kg Rice, a stain less steel plate, a stainless steel mug and a blanket. The distribution of these packets under the banner of PEC Singapore Flood Relief . Later distribution was done to to other affected areas. Pst Dhanaraj reported that according to the Govt reports the strength of floods this time was so high and in the history of the state 100 years never was a flood so severe. Some of the areas were washed out completely , with water levels at a depth of 15ft and most of the buildings completely submerged in the water. Pst Dhanaraj said, Thanks to the whole PEC team from the bottom of our hearts for the way you have responded to the dreadful situation here in the Kurnool District". The District Collector have requested that the NGOs to see that the children get the notebooks as the Govt is providing the text books. We did visit different parts of the town that is affected by the flood and foun...

Devotion - Why prayer? - Part 1

Image
We must have heard so many sermons on prayer. We may even have preached sermons on prayer. But do we pray ? We can know all about the mechanics and theology of prayer but until and unless we learn to wait on God in pray, all our christian walk will only be a paper exercise. Remember when Samuel heard the voice of God, he ran to Eli. Eli was able to explain to Samuel what to do, how to respond, sensing it was God speaking but he himself did not hear God. How true it is many times in our own lives, we can tell all about prayer but never experience the power and the personal relationship that prayer affords. Why pray? a. Jesus himself prayed. In Mark 1:35 - Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed . The Lord always led by example. Even in prayer, He sets the example by having a quiet time with God. It is always good to start the day with God. A set time and a set place. You see, Jesus left the house ...

Faculty at HI Singapore

Image
It was indeed a blessing and a privilege to be a faculty at HI Singapore from 8-13 Oct. 26 leaders from 14 countries participated in this training. I took Biblical Mandate. It was an humbling experience and God ministered to all the participants in a special way. Many, if not all have been challenged by the Great Commission and are going back to their countries to fulfill the mandate. Thank you all who remembered me in prayer for this request. Tiring but fulfilling. All Glory to God.

Another Church Planter's work bearing fruit - Chitoor District

Image
Pst Peter Gangadharam, a first batch graduate of the Great Commission Training Center, has pioneered a new work in Chitoor District, under the supervision of Pst Beenm Redy Barnabas. Eight people have taken water baptism today and many more are keen to follow the Lord. Pst Nehemiah and Pst Barnabas were there for the baptism service. Its a great joy to know that our labour has not been in vain and the Lord is doing great things through PEC in AP. All glory to God.

AP Flood Relief

Image
By God's grace we were able to raise and send a sum of $5000 to assist in the flood relief work. The contributions came from members and friends of PEC. May God bless everyone who has given for this cause. On 15 Oct, Pst Nehemiah and Pst Gopi distributed relief bags, consisting of basic essentials, to about 160 families affected by the floods in Guntur District. Many people from different faiths were touched by the love of God, shown by our people in this time of desperate need. In addition Pst Gopi also gave a free meal to the villagers during one of the evenings. Continue to pray that many people will respond to the gospel even as we share God's love by taking care of the physical needs. Pst Nehemiah sharing God's word before the distribution For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.. Mat 25:35 Tomorrow Pst Nehemiah will travel to Pst Dhanaraj's place in Kurnool and dis...

Floods in AP - Update

Image
Situation has not improved in Guntur District. Farms remain submerged. You can see Pst Gopi in the picture, standing in the water with some members. There is a lack of clean drinking water and food. I am trying to raise some funds through PEC and friends to provide for the basic needs. Meanwhile Pst Nehemiah who has been to Kurnool District, said that the situation there is just as bad. This is the time for Christians to show the love of Christ. If you want to contribute please call me. The response thus far has been poor. Please remember this urgent need in prayer.

Devotion - Brearing Fruit

Image
In John 15:5, Jesus said, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing" .What does it mean by fruit in the Bible. In the scriptures, "fruit" refers to three things: 1. Character . In Galatians 5:22-23, Paul says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law" . Fruit here refers to the character of a believer that he acquires as he goes through the process of sanctification in his life. More often than not, we always associate "being filled in the Spirit" to speaking in tongues and miracle gifts". I don't deny that but we cannot neglect the transformation that must take in the life of a believer who is filled in the Holy Spirit. Both are two sides of the same coin and must go hand in hand. Col 1:10, "And we pray this in order that y...

Floods in AP - Update

Pst Dhanaraj updated that this is the worst flood in the last 100 years. Praise God for His protection. The church in Kurnool and the Training Centre are still intact. The church in Kurnool has become a refuge centre for those affected by the floods. The waters are now receding. However many people have lost their homes and possessions in the flood. In Guntur District, Pst Gopi reported that many farms have been destroyed. There is a lack of drinking water and food. Toilet facilities are also lacking in that area. We need to rise to the occasion and see how best we can share the Love of Christ to those affected, especially the non-believers, by providing for the basic needs. Please continue to pray and if you want to give some financial help, please get in touch with me. This is the time to rise up.

Urgent Prayer Request - Floods in Kurnool

Pst Dhanaraj, Principal of the PEC Great Commission Center, reported that due to heavy rains, the floods in Kurnool, AP have risen to a dangerous level. Please earnestly pray that the rains will stop and that the flood subside. Our God is in control of the weather.

Devotion - Psalms 27:10: Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me"

Image
The Bible calls David a man after God's heart. When we review his life from when God took him from looking after sheep to shepherd His own people, the nation of Israel, one thing stands out very clearly in David's life...his love for God. In Psalms 42:1, David cries, "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God". One of the reason for David's passion for the Lord, I think, is because David always remembered how when he was only a shepherd boy, God lifted him to become the King. of a great nation. One of the verses that really elaborates this emotion of David is found in Psalms 27:10 - "Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me" (NIV). Was there a time in David's life when his parents did not think well of him? You remember when Samuel the prophet came to anoint a King from the house of Jesse, all the brothers of David were invited to stand before the prophet, except David. Jesse did not have any...

Christians in Pakistan - Under Attack again

Bishop Younis reported that another incident of attack occurred last week in the village Jhathe Kay, about 20km from Sialkt City. A Muslim mob turned violent while burning christian homes and setting a church on fire. They also tortured a number of innocent Christians in the village. In another incident, on 15 Sep, a Pakistani Christian by the name of Robert Danish was mysteriously found dead in a special security zone of Sialkt Central Jail. It is believed he was murdered. Please uphold our brothers and sisters in Pakistan in prayer. I am trying to send some funds to Pst Younis to help the families affected by the atrocities. Do join me in this support.

Mission Trip Accomplished - All Glory to God

Image
Praise God for the tiring yet wonderful trip we had in AP from 3-10 Sep. Special thanks to all who remembered us in your prayers, especially the members of the Healing Room for their continuous intercession for the team. The team of eleven departed on 3rd Sep at 8.00PM. The send off at Changi was simply grand with so many friends and family from PEC . We were indeed blessed with the presence of Prof Dr Lim , his wife Doreen and Chandra from the HI fraternity who prayed for the team before departure. God's awesome presence was felt throughout the trip. All the team members were blessed to see the work of God expanding in AP, India. We achieved all out objectives in spite of the rainy weather. The Pastors' seminar was well attended with about 70 of our workers and affiliated pastors coming together. Of course there are some challenges ahead of us but we remain focused on our vision and press on trusting the Lord. The teachers' seminar was a blessing to the 40 participants. ...

Dairy Farm at B* - Income generating Project

Image
Praise God. After much delay caused by the rains, Pst Samuel reported that the farm is finally in operation. Currently they are getting about 40 litres of milk daily. The output is expected to increase in a week's time. The income generated will be used to support the training centre and, in future, church planters into the interior. Praise God for the sponsor who was willing to sow into God's kingdom. We pray that this will be a prototype project for other mission work supported by PEC. Please continue to pray that many people will be reached with the gospel through this project.

Pastor Yam from Nepal visited Spore

Image
Pastor Yam (S828) was in Spore in Jul for a conference. It was good seeing him and his friends. We visited the HI center in Spore followed by dinner at an Indian restaurant. We talked about the good times at Maui. We discussed ways of partnering church planting efforts in the villages. God willing, we will plan be in Nepal next year.

Making the Difference - Naaman's maid

On Sunday morning I spoke in Church on the topic Making the Difference . The text was taken from 2 King 5 and we focused on the young girl who was the slave of Naaman. She made the difference in Naaman's life by becoming the crucial link to his healing and his eventual salvation. We do not know the girl's name and the Bible only gives two description of her. She was young and a captive . When we say someone is young, it implies that the person is inexperienced, naive, playful and even immature. As a captive she had no rights of her own and no social standing. She was literally a nobody. Yet God used this "nobody" to touch the life of the mighty general. You and I can be a nobody in this world but still God can use us as an influence for His purposes. In 1 Cor 1:26-27, Paul says, " Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish ...

Jehovah Jireh - Funds for the Sep Mission Trip

God has again proved His faithfulness. The funds needed for the mission trip have come in from God's stewards who were sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord richly reward every cheerful giver. Amen Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see. All I have needed Thy hand hath provided; Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Words of encouragement from the Healing Room

Image
This afternoon the Lord again confirmed His word for the Mission Team. Bro Mathew said that the road ahead is long and straight and blessing are flowing from both sides as the team presses on to the mark set before us. Sis Doreen said that while praying, she saw the Lord overshadowing the team with huge wings. We are under the protection of the Almighty God. Praise the Lord . Isaiah 55: 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. 9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Devotion : Psalms 15- The qualities of a citizen of Heaven - Part 1

Image
In this Psalm the Psalmist describes the qualities of a citizen of heaven. He is not talking about a tourist or a permanent resident but rather a citizen. In every country a citizen is required to fulfill certain obligations if he wants to belong to that particular country and call it home. It’s the same with our citizenship in heaven. John 1:12 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name”. Colossians 1:13 tells us, “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves”. The rescue and our citizenship of heaven are purely by God’s grace and grace alone . We did nothing to achieve it. However as a Christian goes through the process of sanctification, there ought to be some changes in his character and in his relations with God and people. Sadly many Christians still remain in the same mould from which they were hewn (Isaiah 51:1) and the words of 2 Cor 5:17 h...

Jessica returns from "mision trip"

Jessica, our eldest daughter, returned home early this morning after about 3-month attachment with YWAM in San Francisco. It was a joy seeing her again at the airport. She said it was a wonderful journey. The trip has helped her in leadership skills, servanthood, evangelism and above all to "hear the voice of God". "I want to be a misionary", she remarked as we drove home. Praise God for the work He is doing in her life. Jeya and I want to thank all who remembered her in your prayers. God is indeed good.

Words of Encouragement for Mission Team

On Saturday we met for prayer at the Healing Room to intercede on behalf of the Mission Team. The Lord drew our attention to the following scriptures for the team: Isaiah 61:1-3 - The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, 2 to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God,to comfort all who mourn, 3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor. Isaiah 60:1-2 - "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. 2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the people...

Devotion: Mighty Warrior - Part 2

God saw Gideon differently. He did not see his physical strength but his spiritual ability. Gideon was both inward-looking (seeing himself) and outward-looking (seeing the circumstances) but failed to be upward-looking (seeing God) How did Gideon see himself? Judges 6:15 How can I? (physically weak) My family is poor (materially - no resources) I am the least in the family (low on the social ladder) Isn't that how we view ourselves many a times. Like Gideon we may have given up hope. Nothing seems to be working. We see ministry and ourselves as a failure, lacking resources and no personal worth. Today we have to view ourselves through the eyes of God. Phi 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ. 1 John 4:4 - Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. God assures the man of God. "I am with you". God's Assurance 6:14,16 Go in your might (step out in faith) I am sending you ( God's authority is behind you) I am with you (God's presence) ...

Mission Trip Sep 09- Update

The team meets once a week for prayer. We met yesterday in a very different setting but God's presence was strongly felt as we began to intercede for the needs and for the team members who were going through various testings. Psalms 23 and 91 are the platforms the team is standing as we prayerfully journey to the sub- continent. Please pray for the following: Lives will be touched and transformed Souls will be added into God's kingdom Team members will be able to ride through their difficult situations. Their faith will not be shaken Unity in the team Good health, protection and good weather God's favour while in the field For the finances to be met ($4,000)

Dairy Farm Project at B*

Pst Samuel Sharma updated that he has identified the cows and the cow shed. However the work has been hampered by heavy rains. Once the weather clears the work will start. Hopefully we can see it established by next week. Please pray.

Devotion: Mighty Warrior - Part 1

Image
Judges 6 Sometimes we wonder if we are doing the right thing, especially when things tend to go wrong, or when a close friend betrays your trust or when God simply does not seem to say a word. This week the Spirit led me to meditate on Judges Ch 6 to consider the live of Gideon and to draw strength from that passage. Gideon's condition (6:11-12) Lost Bearing . He was supposed to be a leader but was doing the wrong job (threshing wheat) and doing it at the wrong place (vineyard). A chosen leader doing the wrong thing at the wrong place. Total disorientation. Lost Bravery . He had no courage. He was filled with fear of the enemy and hence runs into hiding. Lost Belongings . All his possessions taken away by the enemy. Living in Bondage . Enemies were in control of what was supposed to be God's people. Life of Questions. He questions God in verse 13. "Where is God? He has abandon us. Where are all his miracles? Gideon seems to be in a helpless and hopeless condition and mos...

Through storms and trials

It has been a trying week. On Monday the mission team for the Sep trip gathered for prayer. One by one has been hit with some crisis after signing for the mission trip. Some have been hospitalized and other going through severe difficulties. In my case suffered a traffic accident, unnecessary expenditures, work related problems and the agony of a close friend gong through serious health related problems. From these episodes, the enemy's intentions are becoming clear: Distract, Divert, Discourage and bring Disorder. Nevertheless God has been merciful and gracious. It was reassuring to know that friends form HI and elsewhere are upholding the team, whom they have never met, in earnest prayer. The following text from Psalms 91 was given as an assurance of God's protection: He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord , He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and ...

Devotion - Prosperity and Success: Part 2

Image
Last week we considered the meaning of prosperity in Joshua 1:8 and we distinguished if from the views of those who prefer to see it as the basis for the health and wealth gospel. What about the word success. Does it mean that successful as in prosperity? Well the Hebrew word for success used in Joshua 1:8 is "sakal". That word means to act wisely, to have insight and to act circumspectly. In fact the Young's Literal Translation says: then thou does act wisely. Another translation says "you will finish well". The same word "sakal" is used in 1Sam 18:14 and the KJV translate - David behaved himself wisely .... In other words to be successful is to act wisely or behave wisely. How different from the normal way we would have considered success. How then does one become full of the spirit and act wisely. The verse in Joshua 1:8 gives two commands: a. Meditate upon it day and night. We hear this so often but we seldom do it. Isn't it true that many tim...
