Weekend at HighPointe Life
Over the weekend, Jeya and I had the privilege and joy of being in Klang, Malaysia, for a wonderful time of ministry and fellowship. Though our journey began with an unexpected delay of one and a half hours due to inclement weather in Kuala Lumpur, we were reminded once again that even delays are under the sovereign hand of God. We remained seated in the aircraft throughout the wait, trusting the Lord for a safe journey. Eventually, our flight departed, and by God’s grace, we arrived safely at KLIA without incident.
As always, Pastor Stephen and Flora were there to warmly receive us. Over the years, what began as ministry partnership has blossomed into a precious friendship deeply rooted in mutual love, trust, and kingdom purpose. They are truly among the special people God has graciously brought into our lives—people who inspire us, encourage us, and faithfully walk alongside us through the seasons of ministry and life. We thank God continually for their friendship.
Being Pentecost Sunday, there was a special sense of anticipation and joy in gathering with the church family. It was heartwarming to reconnect with many dear friends who, over time, have become more like family to us. There is something deeply beautiful about the fellowship of believers—a shared journey of faith that transcends geography and time.
I had the privilege of ministering from Exodus 33:14–17 on the theme, “Hosting His Presence.” As I shared the Word, there was a tangible sense of the Holy Spirit moving powerfully in our midst. I personally sensed the mighty presence of God even while preaching. The congregation responded deeply to the message, and many came forward for prayer. It was a sacred moment of surrender, hunger, and openness to the Lord’s presence—a reminder that God still delights to meet His people when hearts are yielded to Him.
That evening, the leaders of the church and their families gathered at Pastor Stephen’s home for dinner and fellowship. It was a delightful and meaningful time together. Around the table, we shared stories, recounted recent developments in ministry and family life, and rejoiced in the faithfulness of God. Such moments of genuine fellowship are refreshing to the soul and remind us that ministry is never meant to be done alone.
Today, before returning home, we travelled to Petaling Jaya to meet an old friend, Brother Ritchie. To our delight, Brother Nelson from Indonesia also joined us for breakfast. In many ways, it felt like a mini Haggai alumni gathering! We spent precious moments exchanging updates about ministry, family, and life, encouraging one another, and most importantly, praying together. There is something deeply strengthening about friendships forged through shared calling and kingdom service.
Later in the afternoon, Pastor Matthias and his wife came to meet us at Pastor Stephen’s house. It was such a blessing to spend time with them and to hear of the wonderful things the Lord is doing in their lives and ministry. Hearing testimonies of God’s faithfulness never ceases to encourage our hearts.
As I pen these thoughts onboard SQ125 on our journey home to Singapore, my heart is filled with gratitude. I am deeply thankful to the Lord for the privilege of serving Him and for the doors He graciously opens to minister His Word. But beyond the opportunities to serve, I find myself especially grateful for the people God has placed in our lives—faithful friends and fellow labourers who have stood with us, supported us, prayed for us, and encouraged us, particularly through difficult seasons.
Indeed, ministry is not merely about places we go or messages we preach, but also about the relationships God lovingly weaves into our journey.
We will be landing soon.
To God be all the glory.
