Thought for the day - Do good

Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ - Galatians 6:2 Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you - Ephesians 4:32 Today, let's choose to be the reason someone feels valued, uplifted, and inspired. Small acts of kindness can create ripples of positivity that have the power to brighten someone's day and transform lives. Let's embrace the opportunity to make a difference, one small gesture at a time."

Managing agony or distress

Image
Managing agony or distress   One of the most difficult parts of the Christian life is the fact that becoming a disciple of Christ does not make us immune to life’s trials and tribulations.  Life has its own bouts of grief, pain, distress or agony. Agony or pain can either bring us close to God or keep us away from Him.  Why would a good and loving God allow us to go through such things as the death of a child, disease and injury to ourselves and our loved ones, financial hardships, worry and fear?  For a Christian who fully understands Romans 8:28, agony is always a means of bringing one closer to God. If fact he would rather face agony that brings him closer to God than comfort that keeps you away from Him.   It was Paul M. Neuberger who wisely said, "Pain that brings you closer to God will always be better than comfort that keeps you away from Him."    This deep insight has the potential to not just enrich our spiritual journey but also strengthens o...

Update on Shadrach Home, Myanmar

Image
Update on visit to dedicate Shadrach Home in Tanyan, Shan State, Myanmar -  16-20 May 24 My family and I just arrived back from Shadrach Home after spending two days with the children. The dedication of the Shadrach Home was long overdue due to Covid and the Junta oppression. But with our Mission Pastor Rev Dr Ramachandran’s permission, my family undertook this uncertain journey to the Shadrach Home, trusting God for His protection. Journey and mission We drove 4 days for up and down passing so many militias gates where we are forced to give so called tax and charity fund. There are bridges destroyed by bomb-explosion that all cars has to take wooden made bridges. It was very tense along the journey. We thank God that we could dedicate the building despite of so many challenges many advised us not to go and do dedication in time of like this. But we know it was God’s timing as our sisters and the children in the Shadrach Home very much needed encouragement from God’s people. Hardl...

Singapore's new cabinet

Image
I watched in anticipation at yesterday's swearing in of Singapore's fourth prime minister and his cabinet. Unlike other countries where people like to "hold on to power for ever", our government has planned and groomed the next generation to take over the leadership. PM Lee Hsien Loong could have still continued as PM, given his relatively young age and experience. But there is no hoarding onto power or the practise of nepotism in my country, for which I am thankful. Our new PM, Lawrence Wong is a christian and I watched with pride as he and other christian cabinet minsters to the oath of office, holding the Bible in their hands. There were at least eight cabinet ministers who took the oath with the Bible in their hands. My country, though secular, practises the freedom of religion. Article 15 of the Constitution of Singapore  states: "Every person has the right to profess and practise his religion and to pr...

Blessed Mother's Day

Image
In my life, I only know of two women who are the best mothers, God has given to children. You may have your own selection and opinions  but this is mine💌. First is my wife and the second is my own mom.  They both would fit squarely in the description of a woman in Proverbs 31. I will leave it to our children, to sing their mom's praise. But this space is dedicated to my mom. The last few months, I have been spending a lot of time with my mother, partly because of shifting her closer to my house. Selling her flat in Sembawang, dealing with the buyers and the government procedures took a lot of time. But at least now she is much nearer to me and I can monitor her more closely. My mom turned 84 this Mar. Time has taken a toll on her health and mind. While she appears to be alert and well, you can see that she is becoming frail, eating less and not able to remember many things. Her steps seem to falter at times but she still insists on walking on her own. She is on her sun...

God is on the move....in Odisha

Image
Odisha is one of the difficult places to reach in India. Many people live in deep  spiritism and cult worship. Christ is frowned upon as a foreign religion that is offensive to their beliefs. These people live in the mountains and are will not allow outsides to come into their villages. But God is still on the move and our church planters are doing their best to reach these villages with the love of God. Here is an encouraging report from our coordinator, Bishop Anjan. "Praise the Lord sir Gondli work is coming up again. A new family have accepted Jesus. This man was sick for 6 months. He was unable to walk and whenever he tried to take something he used to vomit again and again. But after our church planters Pst Daitary and brother Ananta prayed for him and God healed him.  This man says even if my village people will cut me into pieces, I'll not deny Jesus. And he is ready to take baptism also. So on 2nd June we are planning to baptise both wife...

Pakistani Pastor speaks to Indian pastors - Another first for PEC

Image
Today we had the monthly pastors' meeting at Rasoolpura, Telangana, for our church planters and pastors from Telangana and AP. The difference was, we had a pastor from Gujrat, Pakistan, speaking and sharing the Word with them via zoom. This is the first time, a Pakistani pastor is addressing our church planters and it's a historic first. Pst Ashraf is our CP Coordinator in Pakistan and currently the second batch of CPs are undergoing training. He is a man of humility and great passion to end gospel poverty in Pakistan.  Today he addressed our church planters on the importance of Discipleship. The church planters were blessed with the message and we will see more of such exchanges in the future. As I was watching the session in progress, I was thinking how can two nations, with a long history of animosity, can come together. The answer is in the cross of Jesus Christ.  2 Cor 5:18-19 -  All this is from God, ...
