Weekend at Berastagi

Writing this post from the waiting area at Kuala Lumpur International airport, Terminal 1. My flight to Singapore departs in an hour.

Praise God for a wonderful time in Berastagi. Together with partners from HPL, Klang and GNF, Kuching, we had the privilege to minister and more importantly learn many lesson from Bishop Ezra and his growing church, Elim Kiros.

The main objective for this visit was to develop a "Training Centre" for potential CPs in Indonesia.

As usual, Bishop Ezra and his wife Pst Janice, were excellent hosts. They looked after us as their own family. We are indeed grateful. I think all of us in the team, especially Gaddiel, put on a few extra kg.😟

We arrived on 22 Mar, Friday and for a change visited Lake Toba in the afternoon. The last time I visited Lake Toba was probably 40 years ago. It was a pleasant experience to marvel at God's creation and to enjoy the fellowship of like-minded sanits. I am sure you would have guessed what our conversation would have been like. 🤣. When you are with like minded people, it's heaven in the making.

On Saturday, we had a seminar for church leaders in the church. More than 30 leaders from the various department in the church attended the sessions. We conducted the following sessions:

  • Hearing God's voice - Pst Pathi
  • Producing 100% results - myself.
It was a good learning session for all of us. I had good time connecting with friends in this church. I am becoming more like a member here.🤣. The people are so eager to learn and respond and that made our efforts worth the while.

After lunch we visited the school building, in which I had a small part to play. So blessed to see how it has come up and its almost completed. The building is a testament to the faith of Bishop Ezra and the God who answers prayers. God willing this new building will be officially launched before July.

Later in the evening, we attended the youth fellowship. More than 40 young people gathered for the meeting. The worship was lively and heartfelt. Bro Soo Teck shared the Word and the Holy Spirit moved powerfully in the meeting. Most of the youths were at the alter weeping and seeking a fresh touch from the Lord. I have not seen, a move of the Holy Spirit like this in Singapore for years. I am reminded of the verse in 2 Chronicles 7:24 - If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, seek my face and pray...then.

Sunday was a special day. Pst Pathi and I spoke in the main church, while, Soo Teck, Gaddiel and Inderjit went to minister in the branch churches. We were blessed as we witnessed the mighty out pouring of the Holy Spirit in the services.

Sunday evening we attend the evening service, where Pst Pathi shared the Word. Later at 7:45pm, more than 30 potential cell group leaders gathered for a time of briefing and reflection. I shared with them the importance of serving in the ministry. I highlighted the following two points with the scriptures:
  • Faithfulness
  • Focus.

It was so encouraging to see people on fire to take on responsibilities to reach out to the communities, in spite of the many challenges they are facing in the mission field.

I am truly amazed to see how God is moving in
this church. I realised  that I don’t have much time and there is still much to be done. All we need to do is to remain focused on Christ and His mission.

"Though none go with me, I still will follow"
