Sunday morning service

Today I preached on the subject, "The day after the  lockdown/circuit breaker”.  Now that we are coming towards the end of this phase, the questions I asked myself:  What has the lockdown or circuit breaker experience been for me?  Were there any lockdowns in the Bible and any lessons I can learn and compare? To my surprise I found there were many Some examples of lockdown/circuit breakers in the Bible: Noah and the ark - 365 days Moses -  40 years in the wilderness Jonah – 3 days in the belly of the Fish Esther and her servants – 3 days of fasting and prayer Jesus – 40 days in the wilderness The disciples - In the upper room after the resurrection of Jesus Paul – In Prison lockdown towards the end of his life John at the island of Patmos And of the lockdowns I mentioned, the outcome was welcomed or resulted in a great experience with God and manifested in manifold blessings. Noah - A heart of gratitude and a new generation was ...

Follow the pattern - God's pattern

Exodus  25:40 - “Be sure that you make everything according to the pattern I have shown you here on the mountain. When someone builds a house, he follows a pattern known as a "blueprint." When a mother sews a dress for her small daughter, she follows a "dress pattern." And when you bake your lovely cake, you follow a pattern called a "recipe." When we look at nature, one can very soon discover that everything has a certain order and a certain standard or pattern no matter how complicated the creation maybe. The DNA for example is one of the most complex and intriguing manifestation of all God’s creation.  The human DNA consists of about 3 billion bases, and more than 99 percent of those bases are the same in all people. The order, or sequence, of these bases determines the information available for building and maintaining an organism, similar to the way in which letters of the alphabet appear in a certain order to form words and sentences. I t ...

James 1:4 - Mature and complete, not lacking anything

James 1:4 - Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything In verse 3, James gives another reason why we should welcome testing and trials in our lives, perseverance or steadfastness. The word steadfast means t he quality of being resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering. One of the most common negative results when facing challenges in life is to give up, lose control of self and surrender. James however encourages the believer to be steadfast in trials and testing because one of the by-products of such an experience will be to make you and me unwavering in our faith and in our pursuit for the kingdom. The Covid19 has thrown many of us here in Singapore and around the world into confusion, chaos and utter defeat. We in Singapore have for many years been sheltered and protected, even though most of the world was facing recessions or natural disasters. We thank God for our good government and sustained economical gro wth b...

Another year of exceptional favour

The last year was a new mile stone for me as I had celebrated my 60 th birthday.  Today I celebrate my 61st birthday. I am blessed with so many friends from around the globe who greeted and wished me well on this day. As I look back at my life, the last one-year was wrought with many challenges. Covid 19 appeared to be a  “show-stopper” but in the end it all turned out well.  God supplied all our needs for the mission work and we did not default in any payment. On the bright side, I managed to launch my first book, “Here AM I” which was quite well received. Visited Europe for the first time, especially Finland. Another milestone indeed! Amidst all the wonderful blessings I received today (I am really thankful for all the blessings), one stood out and it came from a dear friend who really knows my heart. He pronounced Amos 9:13-15 (MSG) over me: “Yes indeed, it won’t be long now.”  God ’s Decree. “Things are going to happen so fast your head will s...

Because of her testimony, many people have been won for the Kingdom of God.  This morning I spoke on the topic, Hannah - A Mother of Virtue. The text was taken from 1 Samuel Ch 1:9-18 Although Hannah was Despised: She was Determined not to allow her circumstances to control her. She was Desperate before the Lord. PEC Missions Update - Apr/May 2020 : Serving the community during the lockdown

Image
Covid19 has literally stopped the world on it tracks. Even our Missions work was affected.  Our children program had to be suspended, churches could not gather to worship and even gospel meetings have been hampered. In fact even our missions giving was hit. But one thing is for sure. Our God reigns, even through this pandemic. He has been kind and we saw His faithfulness and favour during these months. We indeed praise God for all that He enabled us to do even during these trying times. During this lockdown, many poor people were deprived of basic necessities in the different states in India. Even one meal a day was difficult for the poor. We felt led to do something to help the poor and needy of all religions. By the grace of God we raised about $11,000 and the money was used to provide rations, cooked food and other basic essentials for the poor. Over two weeks in the end of Apr, our coordinators in Andhra  Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Odish...

Promise verse for the Month of May - Ps 23:4 - God is with me

This morning we considered Psalms 23:4a as our promise verse for the month of May 2020. Psalms 23: 4a - Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Four important lessons we can learn from this passage: The valley journey is Intentional This valley journey is Temporal The valley journey  Non-  Delusional (Fear is unnecessary ) The valley journey is Relational (Because God is with me) For the full message please follow this link: https://youtu.be/WGEbsSVeZ9M
