Some final thoughts for 2020

God’s pruning of one’s life or the church may be gruelling, excruciating, heart-breaking and even a momentary loss, but that is essential for the growth and productivity of the individual and the church. The pruning will eventually result in strength, unity and accelerated growth. John 15:2 - … and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. Note that God only prunes the branches that bear fruit.  The dictionary defines pruning as "to trim by cutting away dead or overgrown branches or stems, especially to encourage growth," and this definition works when thinking about pruning in a Christian sense.     How does God prune the life of a believer/chruch?   Through His Word John 15:3 -  You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.   Through trials and testing James 1:3-4 -  Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.   But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect an...

Post Christmas Celebrations

Image
Two special events were conducted to day. The first was in a village in Bihar. About 160 Bibloes were districted to chruch members. This is the best Christmas present a person can get. The Pastor, Kapil Dev from Bakhadda,Banka Bihar was overjoyed to see his people receive the copies of the Bible. We praise God for the sponsor who had done this good deed. This is an investment that will bear results in heaven's treasury. The second was a  Christmas Gospel event was conducted at a new village Kalo bustyin, Darjeeling NE India today by Pst Abishek and team.  It was well attended.  Very good potential to start a new work in this village. However service was cut short because of no electricity. Do pray for a generator to help this work. We prasie God for all the hard work done by our PEC Church planters. Simply blessed to see all these developments. To God be the glory.

Another piece of exciting news coming from our church planter in Myanmar. Four new baptisms in the remote village of Myetha lyin myain, near the Thai border. Even in the midst of Covid, the Lord is adding new souls.  We prasie God for our CP T Phong ram, for Pst John Phongshar and Bro David Kriner for this wonderful partnership in the kingdom of God. We are in the mission to end gospel poverty.   Special thanks also to all our trainers Albert Pang, Josephine Wong, George Khoo, Victor Goh involved in training these church planters. Also blessed by Crosspointe City Church, Philippines for their sponsorship. Different churches coming together for one purpose. To God be the glory.

I highlighted the following areas in fulfilling the call of God in the life of a missionary, drawing lessons from the Book of Nehemiah: See the Need A Passion Pray Vision Set Goals /planning Perseverance Sacrifices Result. It was a blessed time. Special thanks to Pastor Nishant for organising this school to rekindle the fire for evangelism and missions. It starts at about 11:30PM. By the time it ended it was 1:30AM

Pre Christmas Celebration in Vellipuram, Tamil Nadu

Image
It was a special Pre Christmas celebration today for the PEC church planters in Tamil Nadu.  About 50 pastors , mostly PEC chruch planters attended the program. We also hosted a children's program for more than 130 kids. Special thanks to Bro Ajay jayaraj from Trichy for sharing the Word. Ajay is an Haggai alumni, a man committed to God's Word and principles.Truly grateful to Pst Jaya Thomas, PEC Coordinator for Tamil Nadu for organising the event.  A big thank you to all sponsors of the event and also the lovely gifts for the children. May the Lord richly bless them and their churches.  PEC ministries has indeed grown from its humble beginnings. Today we have many  tuition   centres  in Tamil Nadu and a number of chruches. Many church planters have been trained and the churches are growing in spite of the  Covid19  restrictions. Pastor Thomas has also started a small  fellowship  in a laprosy home in Vellipuram and some of them have...

What is your life worth?

Social media is an excellent tool if used for the right purposes and if its God-centric.   Many of us like to showcase our families, our holidays, our food escapades and our own personal reflections. Nothing wrong with it at all.   But it always has its negative effects. Some people release their frustrations, showcase their achievements, “especially of their children” (guilty as charged). In essence it tells about you. Who you really are and what you value in life.   I recently read a post by a young Christian  adult. Very well written and depicted the importance of relationships and how self-contained and satisfied that person was. Nothing wrong again. But God was not in that equation.   I am reminded of the words of Paul:   1 Corinthians 1:30, MSG  Everything that we have – right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start – comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 10:13  -  So whether you eat or drink or whatever y...

Update on the work in Chhattisgarh

Image
On 9-10 Dec, Bishop Nehemiah visited Chhattisgarh to see the work done by the church planters. He was received by our PEC Coordinator Pst Prabulal.  Bishop visted some children's program and saw the work of the church planters.  The work is good and Bishop was impressed with what he saw. The chruch planters are working in spite of the Covid restrictions and doing a tremendous good work. We thank God for all these church planters in Chhattisgarh and may the name of Jesus be lifted high in every village in this state. To God be the glory

Prosperity gospel?

It worries me at times that some good christians are so caught up by the prosperity gospel that they do not talk about suffering or trials and if they do, its said in the passing. When I see some of their posts on social media, I wonder where they have got their  t heology from. If the only blessings you have received is health, wealth and prosperity, I am afraid you have believed the wrong gospel. 1 Peter 4:14 - Count it a blessing when you suffer for being a Christian. This shows that God’s glorious Spirit is with you. (CEV 2 Timothy 3:2 - Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. Genesis 12:2 - You will be a blessing to others. (abridged CEV) I believe in the blessings of God. But God's blessings are not just confined to meeting our physical needs. We need to have a better understanding of the whole scheme of the Bible on any matter be it blessings or otherwise. The only prosperity that is worth advertising is not about he...

Thankful for sacrificial givers in Praise Evangelical Church, Singapore

Today I posted the following message in our PEC chat group  "Good morning church. If u are planning to give a Christmas gift for those in need, here is a suggestion. We have a pastor in Bakhadda, village, District: Banka, Bihar. His name is Kapil Dev having more than 300 believers in the church in village. He needs 200 Hindi Bibles. Each hindi Bible cost 200 rupees which is about $4. Total cost is about $750.  This will be a real Christmas gift for these poor people. If u want to be a blessing and sow into the lives of these new believers, pls pm me. This will be the best gift the can receive in a time like this. God bless" Within 5 minutes, a sister texted me saying she will sponsor the Bibles. I was humbled. by the instantaneous response. In a difficult time like this,  especially when finances are valued because of the economic downturn, there are people who are willing to give beyond their means. I am reminded of the poor widow who put in the 2 mites in the ...

142th church dedication in Chhattisgarh

Image
My heart is overwhelmed as we dedicated PEC's 142th church building today in Tong Kongera Village, in Bastar District in Chhhattisgarh. Chhattisgarh is a hard ground.  I remember a few years ago we had to run for our lives because of persecution. But today we are seeing the fruits of our labour and nothing stops the move of God as we see people responding to the gospel in large numbers. We are indeed grateful to God for PEC Coordinator Rev  Prabhulal Nager  and his deputy Rev John Nag and the team of CPs for the hard work put in the last few years. These men risk their lives daily for the sake of the gospel. We also thank God for the dear sister who sponsored the building.    To God be the glory.    Covid or no Covid,  the kingdom of God advances to end gospel poverty.

Flood Relief for the Philippines

Image
Dear Friends,   Relief aid for victims of the floods in the Philippines   As you are aware that the Philippines was recently hit by a series of typhoons recently, the latest being Typhoon  Vamco, where many have died, and hundreds of thousands have been evacuated.   Pst Jose Laquihon Reyes, a good friend of mine and a Haggai alumni, is coordinating relief aid for the victims, especially those hit in the coastal areas. Together with his church, they are doing all they can to show the love of Jesus to the victims in these desperate times and also share the good news of Jesus. I have many pictures to show that the need is genuine. I know Pastor Reyes well and he is a good man.    Here's the overview of the flood victims ONLY in the coastal areas we are ministering to (we cannot handle all).    1. Brgy. SAMPIRUHAN Evacuation centers    A. Cardinal Covered Court - 165 families or/ - 616 individuals B. Multi-Purpose Hall - 75 families or/ - 24...

God answers prayer

Since Covid19 hit us in the early part of the year, three times a week our church intercessors gather in the morning from 6-7am to prayer for the various needs. Although we could not meet face to face, we gathered in our own homes and prayed by the social platforms as a group.  We are amazed at how God is answering our prayers. I want to give glory to God for at least three requests we prayed and God answered. We prayed for a dear sister who needed to have her employment pass renewed. It was rejected because of age. We prayed and the Lord answered our prayer. Its was approve on appeal. Pst Lider in Indonesia. was tested positive for Covid19, He was warded in a hospital. Many pastors have died in Indonesia due to this disease. We interceded and the Lord heard our cry. Pst Lider has been healed and is back home We prayed for Pst John Phongsar, our coordinator in Myanmar. He was not well for the past few weeks and the Lord  touched him and he is recovering.  J ohn 14:12-14 ...

The power of unity

Unity in the church is the launchpad that the Holy Spirit uses to depose, dispossess and destroy the schemes of the enemy.   Leviticus 26:8  - Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand! All your enemies will fall beneath your sword.   We always hear these verse proclaimed by pastors reminding their flock of the power the Lord has given us over the enemy. But what is not emphasised is that these blessing is given to a group of people. I call them believers or the church.      And Jesus emphasised this parameters when he said in Matthew 16:18 -  Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and  all the powers of hell will not conquer it .   Christians need to move from an individualist mental model to one of a cooperate being. As an individual or a small group we can accomplish only little but with the body of Christ the results are exponential. (Lev 26...
