Sessions done, heading for home

Image
I am finally checked in at Kahului and sitting at the transit lounge, waiting for my flight. It has been a glorious nine days in the Mid Pacific Centre.  64 participants from 34 different countries, all with a desire to learn about evangelism. The group was young, intelligent and many of them holding good positions in the market place. I was glad to be part of this process to impact the nations for Christ. Many were blessed during the sessions and the feedback was great. It's the Lord's doing. And the discussions continued after the sessions as well. Some were in my room past midnight. There was such a hunger for God and for lives to be productive. They wanted God so much to encounter them, just as He has encountered me. Was blessed by fellow facilitators. Great men of God with an undivided passion for the Lord and with great humility. It was a honor to work along with them. Was also blessed to meet some of the former volunteers. Praise God for such wonderful people...

Trip to South Korea and Maui

I departed Singapore on Friday evening to Inchoeon airport.  I arrived on Saturday morning at about 7AM. The immigrations and customs were the fastest I have experienced. Rev Paul Kye was at the airport to receive. It was a joy to see him again. The last time I was here was about 3 years ago, together with Jeya and at about the same time. Time are moving so fast. He brought me for breakfast. Grilled fill (Korean sole). But I liked it. My accommodation was the same place I stayed the last time. Quite and tranquil. It was so peaceful looking out of the glass walls. Green paid fields and hills surrounded the place.  In the afternoon, I was taken to a church to meet some youth leaders who were preparing for a major event in the city. I shared very briefly with them on "Being the Right example". Good group of young people wanting to serve Jesus.  Later in the evening  visited another Pastor in another church and had good fellowship. Today, I spok...

Lessons from the ant - 3

In the earlier entires, I considered the following lessons from observing the ants: All are not equal but you can rise above your circumstances Unity in Diversity Today I want to look at other observation:  Unity in the purpose --> Every ant seems to be fully aware of its purpose as an individual and also as a corporation. Whether it is to defend against aggressors or scrimmage for food, every ant seems to know its purpose. When you view the ant operations under a microscope, amongst the hundreds of ants, you don’t find any idle ant or daydreamers by the side, no internal skirmishes’ or even discussions. Every collision of the heads, the rumbling of the feelers seem to communicate some urgency of the task at hand or an acknowledgement of a resolution. It seems to me that they believed in what they were doing as something worthy of honour, something so imperative that their lives depended on it. Leadership gurus call this a “ passion in the purpose.” If we...

Distractions

Yesterday I was trying to withdraw some cash from the ATM machine near my office. While I was keying in the figures on the machine, I was distracted by an urgent message on my phone. So I was reading, listening and thinking as I was doing my transaction. The consequence was obvious. While I took my card back, I forgot to take the most important thing -THE CASH. I only realized  it after five minutes but it was too late. The cash was gone. It was a hard lesson. Thank God it cash was not much. The same things happen in our lives: Because of the distractions in life, we lose God's choicest blessings.  Lot was distracted by the glamour and prosperity of Sodom and Gomorrah. It appeared to be the best at that point in time. But the choice was disastrous,  Solomon was distracted by woman, which eventually led him away from God. Judas was distracted by money, it cost him his life. Today we can be distracted by so many things. Education, career, wo...

Lessons from the ant - 2

1 Corinthians 12:12-20 - Finding unity in diversity The ants displayed a number of characteristics worthy of any scholarship on leadership or goal-setting considerations. But there seems to be one overarching principle that runs seamlessly through all these diverse characteristics – Unity in Diversity. Isn’t this what the church is supposed to be doing I guess we can learn from the ants as well. Any student of Entomology will tell you that within the ant’s colony there is a social structure tied very much to the functions within the community. [1] An ant colony is like a factory. Nest mates work together to convert resources (food) into products (more ants). This process is made more efficient through division of labour, where different individuals specialise on different jobs. The queen has the very specific role of laying eggs, which she spends most of her life doing. Worker ants perform other duties, often depending on their age. Younger ants work inside the nest, taking ...

Lessons from the ants - 1

This week I was in the gym doing a workout.   While I was on the treadmill, I was watching a documentary on the TV. The program was entitled: Weird, True & Freak. It revealed the world’s most unbelievable and scariest animal encounters ever. It featured nature’s most terrifying confrontations gone horribly wrong and in some cases animals fighting to overcome obstacles, to survive in the circle of life. I was particularly intrigued by one segment that featured “blue ants in the wild in Cambodia. A colony of ants was trying to attack a giant millipede, which was many times bigger and stronger than the single ant. Blue ants work together for food and other resources. Once an ant sights a food resource it goes back to the colony and communicates to the other ants via chemical signals and all the other ants (soldiers and workers) will move together and recover the resource. The millipede is a giant amongst insects. One would have thought that the ants were no match fo...

Returned home this morning after a hectic trip to Tamil Nadu. I landed at Chennai on 28 Jun early morning. Anil from Kerala arrived slightly later and together we left to Vellipuram via road. It was almost 5:30AM when we reached our hotel. Bro Rubern who arrived earlier in the week was there to greet us.  After a short rest, we departed for the church planters graduation which was held at PEC Veerapandi. It was good to meet Pst Thomas an his family. They have served the Lord with true passion. Also Bro James and his team were there to teach the students and church planters the days before. 14 students graduated foam the six months training program and many of them are keen to start church planting. We had a simple program and I shared the Word.  On 29 Jun, we left early for the next destination. We departed at 6AM for Palani. We arrived about noon. In the evening we departed for Udumalaipet, about an hours' drive for Pst Steven's church, 2nd anniversary celebr...
