The past does not define you

My history may define my past but what I do from now on, will define my destiny.   Yes, the past can remind you of sin, regrets, failures, unfaithfulness and even of things we dare not speak about. But that does not mean that the future will be the same . God can reverse your future if you are willing to surrender to Him and to His counsel.  I am reminded of the story of the woman at the well in Samaria. Her's was a horrible past. None would want to associate with a woman like that. Her life was one of cheat, adultery, immorality and the list goes on. Such woman should be stoned to death, so says the Jewish law.  But the moment she encountered the Lord Jesus Christ, her future was reverses. She brought the whole village in Samaria to Christ. The cursed woman became a blessing too many. God can do the same for your life too. Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his ...

I am settled nicely in the restaurant at 56 Hotel in Kuching. All ready and waiting for Pst Cheng to pick me to the airport. For the last three days I have been speaking to the christians in Emmanuel Christina Church on Missions and Church planting. I was invite here by Pst Cheng, one of the pastors in this church.  Members from other churches also attended the sessions.  On Friday night I spoke on "An encounter with God". Saturday morning I toured on the Heart of God and shared on my journey in Missions. In the evening I spoke on the life of Jonah. This morning, I spoke on "Can't keep quiet", based on 2 Kings 7:1-9. It was good to see many people, especially young people, attend the sessions and the feedback was good. I also met Bro Brian Lee from Good News Church and had good fellowship on Saturday afternoon. Many of those who I met and taught through the Haggai Seminars also came for the meetings.  Bro Si Kian Seng and his...

Thanking God for 60 years

Image
Yesterday marked my 60th birthday. It was a joy to celebrate it in the presence of the Lord with family and members of Praise Evangelic Church.  I was specially humbled by the outpouring of well wishers from all over the world. As I look back at my journey, especially the last 15 years, I can only say the "Lord has been my shepherd". Grateful to my family who have stood by me all these years. They know my pain and my struggles. They have been the wind beneath my wings.  Looking forward to the next lap. I know great things are in store. To God be the glory.

Students retreat at Majodi Centre, Johor Baru

On 15 May, O was invited to speak to a group of NTU Students. They are from the Indonesian group, under ISCF. The theme of the retreat was Living the Gospel Mission driven Life.  About 32 students  and organisers attended the camp. I spoke on how we as Christians can live the mission driven life, in spite of our careers and other commitment. I also shared on how we can discover the purpose for our lives. The second session was a talk show, where I was joined by another speaker, Bro Yohanas. It was question and answer sessions and the students  posed some real interesting questions. I was glad to be there to challenge the students on the importance of the Great Commission and the need of the hour.

Mother's Day celebration

Image
It was once again time to celebrate mother's day. A day we recognize the contributions of mothers in the lives of the children, family and church. I hope we don't do this only on this date. we should be grateful to our parents everyday.  I thank God for my mom. she has been a fervent supporter of our mission work. Her prayers are the bedrock of our mission effort.s She has been the wind beneath our wings. Jeya has been a great mom to our children. In many ways, the kids are what they are today because of her. We are grateful to all mothers in PEC. They always come together in prayer and support whenever the church calls them.

Home again

We arrived home at about 3.00am this morning. SilkAir was delayed for a couple of hours. Nevertheless it was good to be home. Yesterday Sunday morning I was ministering at Kasih Karunia, Merelan, Medan (Pst Lider's church). I was blessed and after the service I spoke to all the key people involved in the various ministries. I encouraged them to serve God with the Right Principle.  Blessed to see what God is doing in Indonesia, Medan. Thanking God for the opportunity and looking forward to His plans and direction. To God be the glory

Graduation of the first Church Planters Training Program in Medan

Image
It was another historic day (4 May 19). The graduation of a joint effort of PEC, Calvary Church in Sri Lankar and Kasih Karunia in Medan. 12 students graduated today. The ceremony was conducted very well and orderly. It was indeed a dignified event. There was planning and a lot of effort put in the graduation. I was blessed to see the whole ceremony. It was emotional as well. I was moved during the time of prayer when the students wept before the Lord. This is the first graduation I am seeing such a powerful move of the Holy Spirit.  As the student representative was sharing her experiences and thanks, many of us were in tears.  It was a humbling experience for them as the days in the program moulded and reshaped their lives. All of them are going out to plant churches. I was simply overwhelmed as I sat in the ceremony.  For me it is another mile stone. A first in Medan. It does not matter who gets the glory as long as Jesus is exalted ...
