"I have engraved you on the palms of my hands"

Isaiah 48:15-18 - Message - “ Can a mother forget the infant at her breast,   walk away from the baby she bore? But even if mothers forget, I’d never forget you—never.  Look, I’ve written your names on the backs of my ands.   The walls you’re rebuilding are never out of my sight. Your builders are faster than your wreckers. The demolition crews are gone for good. Look up, look around, look well! See them all gathering, coming to you?As sure as I am the living God”—God’s Decree   “you’re going to put them on like so much jewellery, you’re going to use them to dress up like a bride. We have come to the end of Jan 16. This morning I spoke on the above passage, looking at how wonderful our God is; His love for us is incomparable. He has written PEC and everyone of His children in the palms of His hands and no gates of hell can destroy this church. Why? Because -  His affection for me is greater than any other His attention fo...

Breaking new grounds - The eagles are venturing out of the nest .....

Image
Some of our youths are in KL, attending the Planet Shakers Concert. Its after a long time our youths have dared to venture abroad with their own leaders. Its about time. Its a joy to see, the next generation, hungry for more of what God is doing. I am reminded of the verse in Deut 1:6-8 -   “You have stayed long enough  at this mountain....... Go in and take possession. I believe very strongly that this year the Lord will raise up he youths in PEC to take over leadership positions in the church and missions. They will spearhead the next phase. We are already seeing it happening. Praise God. "He made all things beautiful in His time"........

A strange dream

Two nights ago, I had this strange dream.  A lady driver with some family members in a car was on the wrong side of the road and was driving towards me. She just stopped before hitting me and realised she was on the wrong track. In frustration she reversed in agitation without checking the rear and collided with a big mercs. The damage was bad. But strangely the family members in the car were shifting the blame on me. This was a reminder to me that there are so many faults in me that I may not be aware but too quick to pass the judgement on others, worst still blame them for my shortcomings. Jesus said in Mat 7:5 -Y ou hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. This is the problem with many christians today. We are not able to see our own weaknesses but too quick to point the same in others. David cried in Psalms 139:23 - Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know m...

Graduation and Ordination

Image
The final event for the mission trip was the graduation of the students of the church planters and the ordination of PEC senior pastors on 21 Jan. About 70 people attended the ceremony. 20 students graduated from the CP training program this time. What a joy to see another batch of graduands. Also ordained were 20 senior PEC pastors. These men have proven record in their ministry and have led exemplary lives for the kingdom. In my message to them, I exhorted them to serve God with humility just like how Jesus served. I related the incident how Jesus was willing to wash the disciples' feet. We ought to follow His example in serving God, not lording over others.  Jeya and I returned home satisfied. The harvests are coming in. But more labourers are needed. All glory to God

Update on Missions in Andhra Pradesh/Telangana

Image
It is pleasant weather in Hyderabad. Wished it was like this in Singapore. It is so refreshing. So far the going has been good, except for a bout of diarrhoea. I guess it was be the food I ate in the village on Saturday. Still have not learnt my lesson. But thank God I am fine now. His mercies are new every day. So far, I have been thrilled by God's providence and His manifold blessings on our mission work. Man may fail but God doesn't.  On Saturday 16 Jan, we dedicated three new churches in Khamman District. What a joy it was to see church planters planting new churches in areas where there was no church at all. It only reinforced the fact that what we sowed in time past,  is bringing in the harvest. I spoke at the first dedication. That church was sponsored by the Malcolm  family. The other two churches were sponsored by Mr&Mrs Roy Pang. Bro Albert shared the word in those churches. We praise God for all that He is doing. On Sunday morning, my wife Jeya ...

1st Mission Trip for 2016

Image
Today Jeya and I, together with Bro Albert Pang, leave for AP and Telangana. This will be our first for 2016. Many more to come, God willing. This time, we have two church dedications, a graduation and ordination of PEC workers and a four day equipping and empowering seminar for church planters and their Timothys. Thanks to all our prayer partners and sponsors. May God richly bless them.

How time flies. Its our 30th Wedding Anniversary. We praise God for His faithfulness and kindness and for all His blessings. Special thanks to Praise Evangelical Church for organising a special cake and gift for the occasion. Simply overwhelmed by the gesture. We specially thank everyone who have prayed, encouraged and supported us in our lives and in the ministry.  God always gives us the best. All you need to do is to be patient and wait for God's timing. And to my dear wife Jeya, it has been a wonderful journey with you, my best friend and soul mate. It has not always been an easy road, but you were there all the way, through thick and thin, and yes in the mountains and in the valleys literally, in the poorest villages and in familiar grounds, in the hot (52degC) and in freezing cold, amidst opposition and challenges and in the many travels to undesirable destinations. I guess we probably made more overseas trips than most couples, only that our purpose was different. But ...

Intercessory Prayer Warriors

This morning at 4:30am a group of intercessors inaugurated the first intercessory prayer group at PEC. Yes in the past we have had many teams praying on a had-hoc basis, but from today, these group will be praying daily, at least two hours each forming a chain. They will also be gathering weekly in the wee hours of the night for prayer. And what a wonderful time of intercession we had. Time flew so fast and by the time we finished it was bright outside. I have realised that the only reason PEC has survived all these years is because of the prayers  of these saints. So we decided to formalise this with very strict conditions of confidentiality of information.   It was really a joy to see people so enthusiastic to come in the early hours of the morning to pray. With this in place, the church is now ready to enlarge, stretch and strengthen. "The true church lives and moves and has its being in prayer". - Ravenhill

Serving with the right attitude

It was a long day on 4 Jan. Whole day in the office from 8AM to 8:30PM. Then with Alvin and Jeya visited two families who needed prayer. By the time we got back it was almost 11:00PM. But we were gland that we can pray and encourage people in need. While reflecting the day's events, especially visiting the homes, I asked myself the question, "What propels such activity?", duty or passion. I realised that activity based on duty has a measured result; but activity done with passion has a divine outcome. I was reminded of Jesus in  Mat 4:14 - When He went ashore, He saw a large crowd, and felt compassion for them and healed their sick. Jesus served His father not out of duty but with compassion. And that brought healing.  Compassion  comes with a package: commitment,  persistence and sacrifice. One can  easily sniff if compassion is the motivator. It touches the heart of the recipient as well as the heart of God. God responds immediately. ...

PAID IN FULL - Easter Drama

Image
"PAID IN FULL" - Easter drama rehearsals started earlier today. What a day it was! Fisrt time PEC in engaging on such a big project, with a big vision. Almost all in the church are involved in this project. Overly excited at what God is going to do through PEC in the coming days. Those who did not show today, please be on time at the next rehearsals. Enlarge/Stretch/Strengthen All glory to God

Visiting my cousin's place

Image
God is good. Today we visited my cousin Indra's home. It had a good time of food and fellowship. Slowly we are getting to know the three girls (my nieces) better. Good girls with great talents and yes, very loving. We praise God for opportunity to be with them and to be part of their lives for the future.  The picture tells a thousand words. Can't wait for these girls to meet their cousins Jessica and Manisha.  I was reminded of the verse in Joel 2:25 -The  Lord  says, “I will give you back what you lost to the swarming locusts. God indeed is giving us back the lost years and we will not exchange it for anything. What a blessing.

A night to remember - Watch Night Service

Image
What a wonderful watch night service we had. Great dinner followed by testimonies of the goodness of God in the lives of people and in in PEC. The devil was put to shame last night and it was a time of great rejoicing. PEC's tradition of families bringing in their delicacies to celebrated a thanksgiving dinner was revived  again. The mission for PEC in 2016 was based on two verses: 1 Chro 4:10 - Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory ! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain." And God granted his request. Isaiah 54:2 - " Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back ; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes We can only enlarge when we are: Dissatisfied with the present  Dare to think big Ready for change The promise verse for Jan 2016 is: Isaiah 54:17 -   "No weapon that is f...
