Mission Trip to Chennai and NE India.
It was indeed a wonderful trip. We rejoiced to see
what God is doing through the efforts of PEC and friends who are serious about
the Great Commission. We were indeed blessed to see all the wonderful things the Lord is doing
with His people. This trip was almost hassle free and we thank God for it. Eight missionaries went on this trip. Bro Bertie Tan HS (second from the right) joined us from 3-5 Sep.
The highlights of the trip were three church dedications, the dedication of the training centre in Assam and the graduation of the CPS from PEC School of Ministry in Jaigaon.
The first church dedication was in the outskirts of Chennai. Pst Anantha Kumar had laboured in tis village for many years. More then 100 people attended
the service. After many years and many challenges we were finally able to
dedicate the church. Although the church
was not fully completed, we praise God for His goodness and faithfulness. Bro
James, the main sponsor for the building, shared the Word that evening. It was
indeed a blessing to see the joyful faces.
The second church dedication was in a village in Labong, Darjeeling.Pst
Arun is our church planter in this village. We visited him in March this year and
at that time the building as not complete. This time it was beautifully done
and the members organized an elaborate program for the
dedication. Bro James, who sponsored this building, shared the Word. About 100
people attended the celebrations. Every time we dedicate a church, our hearts
are filled with gratitude to the Lord for giving us an opportunity to be part
of this work He is doing.
The third church dedication was in a village is in Chong Tong Tea
Garden. This is Pst Sunil’s church. The last time we visited this place, the
church hung precariously by the side of the mountain. This time it was nicely
built, although finishing work still needs to be done. But we had to walk about
15 minutes to reach the village. About 70 people attended the dedication
service. Despite the primitive conditions, the people sang with joy and
worshipped the Lord from the bottom of their hearts. We could really see their
joy on their faces as they worshipped. Bro Albert Pang delivered an encouraging
Word. Many people came forward for prayer during the alter call. Returning back
to our vehicle, Pst Sunil had to carry Bro James on his back as it was too
tiring and the air was rather thin. But God’s grace was sufficient and we
reached our hotel safely after a two hour drive.
We also dedicated the training centre in Assam. The people had been waiting for
us for more than 3 hrs but they were hungry for the Word. Half way thought the
service the electricity went off and Bro James had to speak with the help of
torches and a kerosene lamp. The people remained through out, even in the
darkness. We also dedicated a new training centre. The purpose of this centre
is to train Bodo tribe pastors to reach their own people. We are thankful to
Bro James and his wife Marilyn for sponsoring the building, though some work
still needs to be done. God willing we will start training from Jan 16. That
night we returned to Jaigoan, where it all began.
The graduation service of the church planters was held on 11 Sep. 12
students graduated from the PEC School of Ministry. It was a joy to see these
young people perform and share their testimonies. These will be our future
church planters. They will reach their own people for Christ. We need people to
support them in the field.
It was a wonderful trip. Three
new churches and a new training centre dedicated for the glory of God.
We started the ministry in NE
India in 2008 with a God given vision to train church planters from Bhutan and the
nearby states. Locals reaching locals was our aim. Today we are seeing the
fulfilment of this vision. New churches planted by these students. We have no
words to express our joy but simply say, “Thank you Lord”. We thank God for Rev
Samuel and his wife and the team which works with them to see this vision being
carried through. Praise God for PEC and all our sponsors without whom, it would
have been difficult to complete this assignment.
