Mission Trip to AP - 18-26 Sep 2010

Image
Praise God for another fruitful trip to the mission field. Four members from PEC embarked on this trip. We had two church dedications and a 3-Day Church Planters' Seminar. Subjects taught were Stewardship, Models of Evangelism, Book of James and Leadership. I took the subject of Leadership using John Maxwell's Equip Training Material. It was well received and I myself was challenged while teaching the sessions. All Glory to God. We travelled by night on the train from Hyderabad to Kakinada. The church dedication was at a fishermen's village about 25 km from Kakinada town. We thank God for our church planter Pst Jeyapal who had laboured to start a work in the village. As we entered the village we were swarmed by flies in such numbers that we have never seen. Yet in such conditions Jeyapal has pioneered a work for God's glory. Today about 50 people are attending the church. I was moved as I watched the congregation worshiping God in such a freedom and sincerity. I have ...

Nehemiah 2: 4 - Vision Birthed in prayer produces God directed strategy

After 3 months of fasting and praying led the king to answer favourably to Nehemiah. Bear in mind that his life was at stake to tell the king about his problem. But the "King's heart is in the hands of God" Pro 21: 1. It reminds us that God is sovereign and he is able to change the heart of the heathen king for His purpose. What a mighty God we serve. There is an old song that we don't sing anymore. Its reminds us of God omnipotence: Got any rivers, you think that uncrossable Got any mountain, you can't tunnel through. God specializes in things that's impossible He can do just what none other can do. Verse 4 speaks admirably of the power of prayer. When we come to God in prayer, even the hardest heart will melt. But it did not come easy. Remember in chapter one how Nehemiah wept, fasted and prayed. Sunday worship is good, lifts the soul and often soothes the emotions but the battle is really fought and won when one kneels alone with God in intercessory pray...

Pioneering Work at Rampachodavaram

On 9th Sep Bishop Nehemiah visited the work started by Pastor Jayapaul, our 6th batch church planter in Rajmondary District. To get there he had to travel twelve hrs by train, two hours by bus and another two hours on the motorbike. The village is in the remote forested area at the AP-Orissa border. Bishop Nehemiah had to travel through the mountainous terrain, via winding mud tracks which was dangerous. The weather was not too friendly either. It was pouring. Electricity and transportation gets disrupted whenever it rains. He finally arrived at the village and was amazed to see the work. A small cell has been started by our church planter . Due to the rain the room was flooded. Yet in the midst of such difficulties our church planter has pioneered a work and people are getting saved. Bishop Nehemiah was moved as he baptised four new members. The joy of seeing people turning to the Lord made him forget the misery of the travel. People gather for worship in a rented place. Chruch Planter...

Leadership Seminar at Jaigon, West Bengal

Our future church planters undergoing training at the PEC School of Ministry at the Bhutan Border. Their mission fields are with the unreached people groups in Assam, Sikim and West Bengal. Continue to uphold them in prayer. Also remember Rev Samuel Sharma and his wife as they have a great responsibility in running this course. These are faithful people who have given their all. If you want to bless them, let me know.

Kairos Course Jul - Sep 10

Attended the Kairos Course in Princep Street Presbyterian Church for the last nine weeks with Jeya. The focus of this course in on the Great Commission. Reaching the unreached. A good course for anyone keen in missions. Today is the last day of the course. Good to know that there are many Singaporeans, mostly graduates in the market place, who have a burden to reach the unreached. Praise God for such people. The course has motivated me to reach the unreached people groups in India and Bhutan. We are working with our coordinators in India to identity the unreached people groups and will strategically move into these areas.

We have 32 participants, who have begun a one and half month Leadership and Evangelism Seminar at our training centre at the Bhutan Border. This time we are having participants from Assam, Sikkim, West Bengal and Bhutan. Our prayer is that through this training these young men and women will go out as church planters and pioneer new work in unreached places. We are specially praying that some will venture to reach the unreached people groups that are located in the respective states. Please continue to pray for the participants and for Pst Samuel and his wife Jenimma as they coordinate the programs.

Nehemiah 2:2-3: Fearful yet bold

Neh 2:2-3 - I was very much afraid, but I said to the king, "May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my fathers are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?" A paradox is observed in the verse. The normal reaction of one who is fearful is to hide, to be silent or even be reticent. In the case of Nehemiah, he was frighten yet responded with boldness. He was able to tell the king that the cause for his sadness was the situation in Jerusalem . What many don’t know is that by making such a statement before the king could cause his life and that is why he delayed in speaking to the king. Yet this man did not succumb to his fears but stood up for what he believed in. The question arises. Can a leader be afraid? Nehemiah was. It is natural reaction for anyone to react in fear. When you hear of any distressful news, the human body is wired in such away that a rush of adrenalin stimulates the sensors to respond neg...
