Pentecost Sunday -The Holy Spirit

Sunday was last week but this this morning I spoke on the events in Acts 2 and how does it impacted our lives. 

My text was taken from Acts 2:1-13 and I considered what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

First the importance of Preparation. The 120 were gathered in the upper room and were together in one accord.

  • Acts 1:14 - These all continued with one accord in prayer

When people come together with a sincere desire for prayer, you will see the work and the manifestation of the Holy Spirit.


Second the Purpose the Holy Spirit was given to the church.

  • Acts 1:8 - But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
The Holy Spirit was given so that you and I can become effective witnesses for His Name.

Third the Product of the baptism in the Holy Spirit.

  • Acts 2:13,15 -  Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.”....These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! 

There is a visible difference when one is filled with the Holy Spirit.

Conclusion

When a person is filled with the Holy Spirit, he or she cannot be the same.

 

The Holy Spirit is given to us to help us in our infirmities. 

  • To make us people of power, love and sound mind.
  • Filled with boldness to share the gospel.
  • Filled with gifts of the Spirit to glorify the Lord and defeat the devil.
  • Live a life that is different from the world

Weekend at Kiros Cornerstone Church, Berastagi, Indonesia

I had the wonderful privilege of spending the weekend at KCC, Berastagi, at the gracious invitation of Bishop Ezra. This trip was somewhat different, as I travelled alone. Due to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, airfares had risen significantly, making it impractical for Jeya to accompany me. I arrived at Kualanamu International Airport on the evening of 29 May. Although I have often arrived on late flights, this particular arrival came with a few unexpected challenges at customs. For a brief moment, the situation seemed uncertain, but the Lord once again demonstrated His faithfulness. Everything was resolved peacefully, and I was reminded that God's hand is upon His servants even in the smallest details of a journey. Waiting patiently at the arrival hall were Bro. Yudah and his son. Their warm welcome was deeply appreciated after a long day of travel. When faith shines brighter than victory

Until now, I’ve never really understood or liked cricket. To me, it was just a game that stirred wild excitement among fans — I thought they were crazy or I was missing something. I watched from a distance, often wondering   why  p eople were so obsessed with it.     But on  31 October , something shifted. I read about  Jemimah Rodrigues , a young Indian female cricketer, who led her team to victory against Australia. I saw something far greater than athletic skill. When the victory came, she cried — and then did something rare. She thanked  Jesus  first.  Yes, Jemimah Rodrigues openly gave God the glory for her success in her interview. In multiple accounts of her post-match interview, Jemimah specifically said, "Firstly I would like to thank Jesus as I couldn't do it on my own," pointing upward before speaking into the microphone.
