Resurrection - What next?

This morning I spoke on the  topic - Resurrection - What next?. My text was taken from 1 Cor 15:58.   In 1 Cor 15, how Paul narrates the glory of the Resurrection: The Resurrection was the fulfilment of prophecy The Resurrection was verifiable   The death and Resurrection is the foundational to the Christian faith.   The Resurrection assures us of our own resurrection The Resurrection affirms the coming of Christ The Resurrection confirms our victory over sin and death.  And  because of the resurrection Paul says: 1 Cor 15:58  -  Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord,  because you know that your labour in the Lord is not in vain . (NIV) I explained three important postures that we need to maintain amidst challenges: Firm amidst challenges Faithful amidst challenges  Fortitude amidst challenges   This is what we need to do ...

Church Planters Training in Tamil Nadu

Image
The online classes have been going on well. This week we had Pst Dinesh Kumaran from HighPointe LIFE, Klang to teach on Spiritual Warfare and Authority. The sessions were held in another place as there were some local activities going on near the church vicinity and it generation much noise.   Pst Dinesh and his family The participants were taught on what is Spiritual warfare and how to execute deliverance and healing.  The sessions were good and had some practical applications. The students are very excited about what they have learnt. Many testimonies were shared after the final session of how the students were blessed and some healed during the practical sessions.  Thankful to Pst Dinesh for his impartation and to Pst Thomas Jaya for the good coordination of the sessions.

Some mission updates - Assam and Odisha

Image
Bishop Samuel Sharma reported 4 new baptism in Assam. In spite of the COvid19 situation, souls are still being added into the kingdom of God. Bishop Anjan paid another visit to Utesi village in the mountains. He was amazed to see the progress our Church Planter has been doing. The children are learning to sing and pray. What a joy to see this. Through these kids the families will be won to the Lord.  The team also conducted their first opener meeting in the village. The villages listen to the message without any resistance. The Lord has already started to work in the lives of these people. These are very poor people and they live like "early man". But they too are made in the image of God and they need Jesus. From Bishop Anjan also visited another nearby village which is about 3 Km from Utesi. This new village is about 3000 ft above sea level. It was very difficult to reach there because of the terrain and it is the last village of this mountain. "We...

Dedication of a new chruch

Another joyful news to report. Yesterday we dedicated another new premises for worship in a village in Ponnur, Tamil Nadu. It's a small place where believers came together for prayers. This church was sponsored by Bro Albert and his wife Sis Josephine. They have been faithful partners and supported in our mission work. We praise and thank God for their partnership.  We are thankful to the Lord for Pst Thomas and all our church planters who are working continuously, in spite of the Covid situation. This building will not qualify as a church building in many of our advanced countries, but for this simple village people, this is a great place for worshipping the Lord together in a sanctuary. Anyway it's not the building but the presence of the Lord that makes the difference.  We are praying for funds so that when the church grows we can built a  reasonable place of worship for these believers. To...

Getting comfortable? Better not

This month  I am clearing my leave which has been delayed due to Covid 19. We were not allowed to take leave last year. All my overseas trips had to be cancelled (sigh). So before I officially go into retirement, I was asked to clear my leave this month. I still have the option of extending my career for another five years, God willing. So how have I been keeping myself occupied?  Now I am getting my long awaited rest, at least 6-7 hrs of sleep. My day starts about 4-5 AM with a good time of prayer. And I having many prayer time slots as well in the day My morning prayer is  usually followed by regular keep-fit runs. My long runs allow me to hear good tradition christian songs and also pray (especially for my enemies...😇 and mediate on the Word. Nowadays I am clocking longer distances ( hoping to run my fist 1/2 marathon soon).  I am also trying to sharpen my cooking skills,,,but no one seems interested. 😔 And yes, sermo...

Update on pioneering work in Odisha

Image
Thanks for your prayers. God has gone great things in the last few days. Yesterday our team conducted a medical camp in Utesi village in the hills in Rayagada, Odisha. The whole village came for the treatment. Everyone was happy. We praise God that He has given us an inroad into this village. The village head is especially happy to see the work we are doing. We have stationed a young couple (trained church planters) to do the followup and start a tuition centre in the village. It's only a matter of time we see the first disciples of Jesus in this village. Appreciate your prayers. Please pray for this couple as they stay and work in this village. Our intention is to reach all the twenty two villages in the locations. Ending gospel poverty. To God be the glory.

Sunday Service at Singapore Charismatic Church

Today I was invited to speak to the congregation at the Singapore Charismatic Church. I spoke in this church about a year ago before Covid 18 hit. My message was about Missions and it was translated into Mandarin  The church was very particular about the government regulations regarding the Covid19 safety measures. They followed it strictly.  Thanking God for  opening  new doors for sharing the Word.

You will not be burned

Isaiah 43:2  -  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;  the flames will not set you ablaze.   Having earlier assured Israel in verse 1, that she is God’s own special possession, “ I have summoned you by name; you are mine”, God now assures her that He will be with her in every one of life’s situation. God describes different scenarios or situations where His people may/would go through and yet in all those situations God will be with them and nothing is going to harm them.    Be they waters – daily perils, rivers – sudden painful circumstances that are caused by others and fire – situations that engulfs and distresses one to the core, God’s presence is always with His people.    In a similar fashion, God’s love for you and me is beyond comprehension. He has called us His sons and daughters (John ...

School of Kingdom Advancement (SOKA)

Yesterday I had the privilege of facilitating the subject, "The Person and Power of the Holy Spirit". This is the first time I am facilitating this subject and I enjoyed it. There were about 18 participants. We looked at three important areas: Who is the Holy Spirit? How does the Holy Spirit aid evangelism Hoe do we discern the voice of the Holy Spirit.   Overall it was a blessed session. All glory to God

It’s about time we took the towel

One of the things that struck me as I read the events that took place in the upper room where Jesus was having the Passover meal with His disciples, was the discussion that the disciples were having. Luke 22:24 recounts: A dispute also arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest.   Can you imagine that. Jesus was about to be tried and crucified in a few hours’ time and you can imagine the mental trauma he must be going through even as He sat with His disciples. Yet the disciples, totally oblivious to the agony of their master, were indulged in self-seeking, ego boosting conversations – “Who is the greatest”. Now it makes sense why no one wanted to take the towel to wash the other’s feet because, that was way below their dignity. Their conversations over the dining table betrayed their true intentions.   It was Jesus who got up and took the towel. John 13:3-5 says:   Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had ...

Resurrection Sunday.

This morning I shared on the context. "He is risen, just as He said" The text was taken from: Matthew 28:5-7  -  The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.   He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.   Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” You may hear the message at:  https://youtu.be/KWt1iU7GyJw Amidst tight military security, the lockdown failed on Resurrection Sunday.

Good Friday

Image
Today I had the privilege of sharing the Word at Melawati Gospel Centre via zoom. It was held late evening. It was a hybrid meeting with some on site and the rest of the church watched via zoom or Facebook live streaming. I am indeed grateful for the invitation and I spoke on John 13:3-5 where Jesus taught some very important lessons at the upper room during their Passover meal. I spoke on Jesus' purpose and in particular: The priority of His purpose The pursuit of His purpose The potential in His purpose  I was indeed blessed as the word did mister to me as well. To God be the glory.
