Heading Home

Image
After a fabulous week in the US, I am all checked in and waiting for my long journey home (25 hrs before I reach home). It has been a blessed time with Jessica and also meeting Manisha and her parents.  Johncy and Ruth really took good care of us and we truly appreciate their hospitality.  Sunday we attended Azalea Garden Church of God in Virginia Beach.  Good to see Manisha in the worship team. Also met Pst Vickers and some old friends in the church. I can truly say God is good. As I look reflect on the lives of these girls, the verse in Psalms 84 comes to mind. Psalms 84:11 - For the  Lord  God is a sun and shield: the  Lord  will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Now preparing for the next trip to a new destination. Egypt in mid Feb.

A week in USA

Image
I arrived New York yesterday. The purpose  is to visit Jessica and also make a trip to Virginia Beach to meet Manisha and her family. It was so good to see Jessica and to hear the updates from her. It is cold in New York. Terribly cold. Today we drove about 8 hrs to Virginia Beach. The journey was pleasant with beautiful sceneries.  Virginia Beach is not as cold as New York.

Last day in Patna

Before leaving for the airport on 19 Jan, we celebrated Praise’s birthday. She turned 18. For those who know Praise, she has been very ill for the last many months, vomiting blood very frequently and fainting. It was purely by the grace of God that she survived all these years.  We blessed her and fervently prayed that God will heal her of all the infirmity of her body and restore her health. We departed Patna for Hyderabad and connected to Singapore. We arrived home on 20 Jan at 8:30AM and after a quick shower attended the morning service in church. Observations    and Needs  The investment in Bihar is producing fruits. After one year, the first batch students, although young and “brand new Christians” have already planted 5 new churches in unreached areas. I am strongly impressed to continue with this training of new church planters. From what I hear, unlike other mission organisation, PEC is literally reaching the remote unreached areas.  ...

Another church planter visit

Image
Again we departed before 6:00AM in the morning. After five hours drive, we arrived at another church planters work. This is Alox who is only 18 years old. But when we saw his church we were pleasantly surprised. There were more 20 people gathered for worship.  Most of them were new believers and there is a great potential for growth as it is a very big village. These young church planters prove that God can use anyone to do great exploits for the Kingdom if we are totally committed to Him. When we saw them during the training, we were very sceptical but God can use anyone.  We returned back with joy in our hearts.

Visiting church planters in Bihar

Image
It was a hectic day of long travel. We left the residence very early at 5:30AM. We were heading for a place in a neighbouring state where one of one first batch student, Jigar, had planted a church. Fortunately most part of the journey was on reasonably good roads. When we reached the remote places, the roads became sand tracks and bumpy. We had to cross a hill and walk at lest 2 km on slippery rocks down hill. By the time we reached the village, it was 3:00 PM.   About 20 people had gathered in a temporary shed. Jigar is only 20 years old, but he has really done the work of an evangelist and reached out to the villagers. If fact he has started work in another village about 30 Km away.  We were really impressed to see what God can do with a person who is committed. Jigger comes from a very backward group of tribal people. He is not well educated but he has the passion for souls and evangelism. Many of the people are ready for baptism of the current batch...

Arrival at Patna, Bihar

Image
We left Hyderabad for Patna. Rev Raji was at the airport to receive us as always. The weather in Bihar was cold, temperatures dropping to a low of 8deg C. But equally bad was the pollution due to burning of wood to keep the people warm. At some places, we could hardly breath. But life goes no for the local people without any masks or protraction.  As soon as we arrived and after a quick lunch, we took teaching sessions with the church planters. Jeya took the first session and I took the next. I spoke on “Reaping 100% results”. This batch of students was more matured in their faith. They were very eager and were responsive to questions. All of them indicated a desire to pant churches after their training.

Church Dedications in Andhra Pradesh

Image
We also had two church dedications today, bringing the total number of churches planted by PEC to 122. This is only possible by God's grace and mercy. We dedicated another two churches in Andhra Pradesh, in Krishna District.   The first church was sponsored by  the family of the late Sis Tao in Gudivada Village.    Sis Tao was one of the pioneer members of PEC. The family sponsored this church in her memory. This same Sister gave away her wedding ring when there was a need to purchase a church building in Singapore in the late 60"s. Truly a great sacrifice. What a blessing it was, to dedicate this church in her memory. More than 100 people gathered for the dedication. The walls have still to be built. Insufficient time to complete.  The second church was sponsored by Sis Malar – PEC Singapore, in Mylavaram Village. This lady does not have much income. Bt she sacrificially gave for this church building. This ...

Church Dedications in Telangana

Image
We had two church dedications today. The weather was very pleasant. After a quick breakfast, we set off from Hyderabad to our first destination. It was at a village called Dornakal in Mahaboobabad District in Telangana. It took us more than 4 hrs to reach this place.  More than 200 people gathered for the church dedication. This church is sponsored by our Bro James Ng, who has been a faithful partner in PEC Missions. I shared the word and we were delighted to see what God is doing in the different parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The next church to be dedicated was about 30 Km away. This is a small church in Chilukodo village,   in Mahaboobabad District in Telangana. This is also sponsored by Bro James Ng. About 50 people gathered for the dedication and Jeya shared the word. This work was started by our church planter after his training at PEC's CP Training Centre.  After the dedication we set off for Vijayawada, which was about 150km away, ...

Sunday at Rasoolpura

Image
The church was packed to capacity. The worship was vibrant. This is PEC-New Life Prayer Power Church. This is one sister church and our base in India for the mission work we are doing. Jeya shared the word of God and she spoke on "Lessons from the Life of Samson: We were pleasantly surprised when the church celebrated our wedding anniversary, They had prepared a big cake with our picture on it and we were treated like royalty. We were simply blown away by the love and affection they showed to us. Later in the afternoon, Suresh, one of the young adult whom we have seen growing through the years, gave us a special lunch at a 5-star hotel. We were simply overwhelmed by this gesture. God has been so faithful to this church. When we  first came here in the early 2000, almost non of them could speak English and all were very poor, living in the slums. Today most of the younger generation are English speaking and some holding good jobs, like Suresh. This is a real pro...

Ministry in Hyderabad

Image
We arrived Hyderabad, 30 minutes later than schedule due to a delay in Singapore. Bishop Nehemiah was at the airport to receive us as usual. By the time we checked into the hotel it was about 2:30AM, SIngapore time about 5:))AM, the usual time we get up. This morning we had the pastors' meeting. About 60 pastors gathered for the meeting. Jeya shared on "Wilderness Experience and I shared on having "God in the Equation". Later in the afternoon we had the graduation of the 33rd Batch fo church planters. 10 students graduated form this batch. Praising God for all the wonderful things He is doing in the field. We give all the Glory to God

33rd Wedding Anniversary

Image
It has been 33 years, since we said "I do". I praise God for His faithfulness in our lives. I think marriage is not about just finding a partner, it's about finding the right partner, one that is God-sent. The "right" made all the difference in the partnership. Blessed to have this wonderful woman in my life. Today we set off on another journey to the field. God willing, this year two new doors may open.  We thank God for all our children both physical and spiritual. And spe cial thanks to all our friends who encouraged, stood-by and supported us on this marvelous journey. To God be the Glory 1 Sam 7:12 - He named it Ebenezer, saying, "Thus far the LORD has helped us."

Haggai alumni gathering

Image
Yesterday a group of us from the Haggai Singapore Alumni Association, gathered in Sis Norma's house for a time of fellowship and to discuss the way forward for the association. Sis Norma was a great host.  We had a great time, reflecting on the ways of the Lord and enjoyed the wonderful fellowship. Looking forward to the Lord's leading in the year 2019.

Is God in your equation? - Exodus 33

I was contemplating further on Exodus 33 and especially in verses 2&3: "I will send an angel before you and drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on the way.” God said that he will do just as He promised but He will not go with the people? I asked the question, "Will anything have changed if God was not there?". I think not. The angel would have done exactly as what the Lord had commanded. The end-result would be the same. BUT - God was not in thee equation. Sometimes when we insist on our way, when we want to do what we think is right, God will just allow us to carryon with our own desires. Yes all the blessings will be there. It will look as it God has sanctioned it but God  may not have approved it. In today's theology we call it the Plan B. Only at the end w...

Watch night service

Image
We had a good turnout for the watch night. Great fellowship over dinner although the rain made it a little inconvenient. Nevertheless the people adjusted and the F&B team did a great job.  Emcees for the night did an excellent job The watch night service saw the young adults taking the lead in worship and in the testimonies. It was a joy to know that the next generation is taking the lead.  I shared on the "Review of 2018". I highlighted the good and the not so good in PEC. Challenged the people to move ahead in 2019 knowing that God will be with us and He will lead the way. Bro Babu James led us in a victorious praise march into the New Year, with a prophetic utterance for the New Year. A powerful move of the Holy Spirit was felt at this point. This is what the Lord says: God will open a new way. He will make the path straight Do not fear because God goes before you Do not feat beaus the Almighty God will carry you through NO evil will come near your...
