Singapore's National Day - Prayer Requests

As we come to the close of 40 days of fasting and prayer for our nation, I will be leading my church in the following prayer request tomorrow morning. Continue to lift my country in prayer:

Prayer Pointers

1.        God’s favor to be upon our nation.
     ·          PM said in his national day message that in the next twenty years we still want to be the shining little red dot
    ·          Psalms 127:1 - Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.  
    ·           Neh 1: 11 - Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man.”

   ·          Favor on the economy 
   ·          On the natural elements
   ·          On the security of the nation
   ·          Social and racial harmony
   ·          Favor on the leadership
    o             Good leaders
    o             Christian leaders who can be an influence in the decision making process

2.        Pray for our National Day Parade. 
    ·          Thousands of people, woman and children will be gathered
    ·          Participants have put in so much of effort and sacrifice
    ·          All the leaders will be there
    ·          For safety, harmony, favorable weather.
    ·           Heaven will look favorably upon this nation

3.      Singapore is a city of abundance. 
    ·                    Gen 12:1-3 - “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.  will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth  will be blessed through you.
    ·                    Pray that Singapore will move towards blessing other nations in need.
    ·                    Pro 11:25 - A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.
    ·                    Singapore will continue to help the needy nations, those nations in distress
      o              We will not become selfish, inward looking
      o              Become the Antioch of Asia – many missionaries will rise from this land

4.           Signs of the last days.
    ·                    2 Tim 3: 1-5 - This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
    ·                    Our Asian conservativeness will not be frowned upon in this current climate where western thinking is the “norm”.
    o           Homosexuality, co-habiting, doing anything it takes to climb the corporate ladder
    ·                    Divorce rates are high in Singapore.  Stats, for every cheating husband, there are 4 cheating wives. Pray that God will overthrow this demonic conspiracy which is out to destroy women.

What a trip to Nepal

I am sitting at the airport restaurant in Kathmandu, checked in and waiting for my departure to New Delhi and from there, onward to Singapore.  Just sipping and enjoying the Americano coffee and a slice of cheese cake as I reminiscent my last nine days in Nepal. It has been a incredibly tough trip but one filled with joy, great satisfaction and challenges. Tough because of the bad roads, tracks and mountain trekking that really tested my endurance and my back was sore.  Couple of knocks on the head as the vehicle danced to the tune of the undulating terrain. Days when I had terrible diarrhoea, running from one mountain toilet to another. Thank God I had Dr Mike Ong on this trip who is a medical doctor from Singapore, who attended to my condition. Times when we had to sleep on the cold floor with thin sheets of cloth, with rodents in the vicinity. Temperatures dropped to a low of 10-12 degrees centigrde in the nights. Devotion - Psalms 44: 6-7 - Its God who gives the victory

Psalms 44:6-7 - I put no trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory; but you give us victory over our enemies, you put our adversaries to shame. Any soldier will know that the basic weapon of warfare, in those days, were the bow and sword. Without which no soldier will not venture into the battle field. Even the famed Goliath was geared in full battle order when he faced David with the stones and the sling. Isn't it a paradox then that David, one of the finest soldiers Israel had ever produced, proclaims that its not the bow and the sword that gives the victory. Its is the Lord, Jehovah, that gives the victory. I don't think David is trying to say that we should not prepare ourselves for warfare. His concern is that we recognize that ultimately its the Lord that gives the victory.
