Christian Missions Is Obeying Christ – Part 2

God could easily choose to convert everyone in dramatic ways, as He did with the apostle Paul, but instead, He entrusts Christians with the mission of reconciliation (Acts 1:8–9). Through us, He calls sinners to turn to Christ in repentance and faith.

Our mission is to proclaim Christ as the only Savior from sin and the source of abundant, eternal life. Jesus instructed us to reach out to "all nations" (Matthew 28:19), sending us to every people group and culture that has yet to hear the gospel.

All believers are called to share Christ within their own communities—among family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors. But it’s important to reach the wrld and support those who go to unreached areas.

The mission doesn't stop at a sinner's conversion. Jesus commanded us to make disciples, not just converts. Thus, Christian missions include both evangelism and discipleship. Thye are two sides of the same coin.

Our mission to share the gospel must be carried out humbly, boldly, and passionately—but we cannot do it on our own. The power and success of Christian missions come from the Lord. He gives us the wisdom, strength, and desire to witness, and through our witness, He brings repentance and faith to sinners' hearts (2 Corinthians 5:20–21).

Although missions are ultimately God’s work, Christians have the responsibility to understand and share the gospel while maintaining a strong relationship with Christ. This relationship shields us from hypocrisy:

"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander” (1 Peter 3:15–16).

Jesus warned that missions would involve suffering, but God uses even our suffering for good (Romans 8:28).

Christian missions involve obeying Christ, sharing Christ, and relying on Christ. God sends missionaries to the unreached with the support of the church, but every Christian is called to the mission of reconciliation. Through us, God rescues the lost—there is no greater mission.
