PEC School of Ministry – Basic Tailoring Course
Location: Dalsingpara, Ranbahadur Basti
Ministry Name: Basic Tailoring Course
Established: 2022
Volunteer Lead: Sister Meena Biswakarma
Empowering Hands, Transforming Lives
The Basic Tailoring Course, launched in 2022 under the umbrella of the PE School of Ministry, is a vibrant and purposeful initiative based in Dalsingpara, Ranbahadur Basti. Rooted in compassion and empowerment, the course was created to equip local residents-particularly women and youth-with practical tailoring skills, enabling them to contribute meaningfully to their families and communities. By doing this we are being the “salt and the light of the world” and sharing the love of Jesus to the largely Hindu community, who otherwise would never step into a church.
With the blessing of Rev Dr Ramachandran and his wife Jeya madam, what began as a humble outreach has blossomed into a powerful movement of skill development and self-reliance. Under the faithful leadership of Sister Meena Biswakarma, the ministry continues to make a tangible difference in the lives of many. Today we are thankful to Pst Matthias and his family from City Tabernacle, Malaysia for sponsoring this important ministry.
Training and Production
Participants are trained in sewing dresses, school uniforms, and other essential garments. These items are either donated to those in need or sold to generate income, helping families move toward financial independence.
Since its inception, the ministry has trained over 100 individuals in basic tailoring techniques. Many of these graduates have gone on to support their families or launch small sewing businesses of their own. Many come from poor families and this skill enables them to make a living and put food on the table.
A Community of Change
Currently, 30-35 active members are part of the program. Beyond skill-building, they are forming a close-knit community grounded in encouragement, faith, and growth. With faith as the foundation and love in action as the mission, the Basic Tailoring Course stands as a beacon of hope in the Dalsingpara region. To the glory of God, some have accepted Jesus as their Lord and saviour and have been channelled to nearby churches for follow up.
Looking ahead
As the ministry continues to grow, so does its vision. There remains a need for sewing materials, machines, and volunteer support to expand its training capacity and reach more lives. The ultimate goal is not only to equip individuals with tailoring skills but also to share the saving power of Christ-empowering participants both socially and economically.
ConclusionWe want to thank the Lord for our sponsors and those who are involved in running this program for the community. To God be the glory.
