Last Sunday of the year -Glorify God through Worship

Image
I had the privilege  of sharing the Word at the Charismatic Church of Singapore on Geylang today. I am thankful to the Lord and Pst Png for regularly  inviting me to be the speaker here. As the theme of the church for 2024 was " Glorifying  God in all that we do", I spoke on the important subject of Glorying God through Worship. I drew parallels  from the Wise Men in the  Christmas story whose one aim to follow the star was to Worship the new born King of the Jews. Matthew 2:2 - “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?  We saw his star  when it rose and have come to worship him.” These men travelled from distant lands, following a star they believed would lead them to a King. They faced dangers, navigated unfamiliar territory, and overcame doubts. All because they were determined to worship the newborn King. I drew four important truths about worship: Worship God with Passion Worship God with Piety   Worship God even in Pain Wors...

Blessed trip to Berastagi, Medan

Image
Penning this journal at the departure lounge at Kuala Namu Airport, Medan. I am indeed thankful to the Lord for this trip. I was refreshed both physically and spiritually.  It was indeed a joy to be back at Mt Zion. Bishop Ezra and his wife Pst  Janice were really kind to me. The hospitality shown was par excellence. Good food and great fellowship. Also had the opportunity to get aquatinted with both their sons. Its always refreshing to view the sunrise from the top of Mt Zion, although it was cloudy. It was a privilege to minster at the Elim Kiros Church Christmas celebrations. More than 600 people attended the service. Good to meet many friends whom we have been acquainted over the years and many were saying, "Welcome Home". I loved that.  It was very vibrant and well organised. I think churches in Singapore should come here to see and learn how things ought to be done and to witness the move of Holy Spirit. The service was about 3.5 hrs long but no one w...

Reverence - Wise men

Image
Matthew 2:11 -  On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him.   Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts   of gold, frankincense and myrrh.   As I reflect on the journey of the Wise Men to the manger, one thing stands out profoundly: the reverence they showed towards baby Jesus. This moment in the Gospel of Matthew (2:11) is striking, as we see these men, bowing down before a newborn lying in a humble manger. In that simple yet powerful act of bowing, they acknowledged the supreme divinity and kingship of Jesus.   It’s remarkable when you consider who these men were. Scholars suggest they were individuals of high social and intellectual standing—astrologers, sages, or even kings from distant lands. The gifts they presented—gold, frankincense, and myrrh—speak to their wealth and royal status. These weren't mere tokens; they were lavish offerings, fit for royalty. Each point to the prof...

Christmas celebration in Assam

Image
Report from Bishop Samuel Sharma On 15 Dec (Sunday), we had celebrations in 3 different churches in Assam. We had to drive  about 3 hrs by road to reach them. They are in quite a remote place in Assam. These are the  places we conduct our tuition centers to give some education to the children and share the  love of Christ to the villagers. By God’s grace, under the leadership of our Rev Dr  Ramachandran, the work is growing in these villages. Although my wife Jenima went to be the  Lord last month, my son Abishek and my  daughter Affrain, followed me to visit these  places to conduct the celebrations.  Although it was quite difficult for us, with  the encouragement of our leader and  spiritual father Rev Dr Ramachandran, God  has given us the strength to continue to do  the work of the Lord. The joy the Lord Is our  strength. The churches also honoured  my late wife during the celebrations . The first place was at ...

Gaddiel and Harini's wedding

Image
Yesterday, we attended the wedding at Orchid Country  Club. It was different  wedding setting which  was attended by more than 300 people. I have seen both Gaddiel and Harini since the time they came to PEC, how they have grown and matured in their faith. On the many mission trips Gaddiel has been with us, in India and Indonesia, even Harini has been on Mission trip, it has been very encouraging to see his passion and heart for the Lord. I believe that‘s where the Lord will lead them in the days to come.  Gaddiel's life is a remarkable testimony. A young  man with so many responsibilities, coupled with so many challenges and yet his faith in God is firm and founded. I have seen him share the Word in many churches in the mission filed and it has been powerful and anointed. He speaks his mind and yet humble to listen to godly counsel and wait in the presence of the Lord. I  remember the many nights we will sit at the coffee shops, discussing about family...

Christmas celebration at a cell group

Image
Today Jeya and I were invited to share the Word at the cell group, led by Raj and Hannah. Bro Rajoo and Sis Linda are  the mentors for this group. They belong to the Covenant Evangelical Free Church in Woodlands. The celebration was held in a condo in Nim Gardens in Yio Chu Kang. We all grew up together in PEC in the 70s and 80s before they left for this church. Shanti and Poh Huat are also actively involved in this cell group. More than 30 people and gathered for this celebration and some pre believers. Most of them were seniors but very fervent  for the Lord. I shared on  The Gift of Christmas and the text taken from  Luke 2:10-11. We had a great time. I was glad to see how Raj and Hannah were so involved in ministry and also Shanti playing a very important role. In spite of the many challenges they all had weathered over the years, God has been faithful in their lives and it was indeed a heart warming sight to see. I was reminded of the verse in Psalms 125:1 ...

Thought for the day

Image
The true assessment of life is not found in achievements, accolades, or acclaims, but in hearing the absolute affirmation upon arriving in the afterlife: 'Well done, good and faithful servant". P Ramachandran The wisest man that ever lived made the following conclusion towards the end of his life on what really matters: Ecclesiastics 12:13-14 - ... Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty. God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad. (NLT) May God help us that we will be entered in Christ alone and fulfil the mission He has given to us. As Paul would say: Philippians 3:13-14 - Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,  I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Blessings of the season.
